Midwest Regionals Tournament

I am placing it here because some have not cheched the Ohio Tournaments thread and rightly so, since it is a tournament that represents more than just Ohio.

There will be free lodging at the church.  Please let me know how many will be staying at the church from your party.

There will be a donuts and juice breakfast provided at the Church for those staying at the church.

Lunch will also be provided (I am debating between Burgers and chips and a drinks or lunchmeat (turkey/ham) chips and drinks)  I will need to collect some money too cover this cost (probably just a couple of bucks)  Dinner will be whatever is left over.  If we need to we will coordinate something more for dinner such as pizza.

Midwest Regionals will be held on July 9th and 10th.

Here is the Updated Schedule

Friday Night   - We will be playing IRONMAN in honor of Brian Reid.  The cost will be $5 and the Funds will be donated to a charity in his name.  Friday Night will be Type II night so plan to show up and have some Type II fun.  Type II will start Precisely at 6:00.

There will be free lodging at the church.
There will be a donuts and juice breakfast provided at the Church for those staying at the church.
Lunch will also be provided
This all sounds GREAT!

  8:30 - Type 1 -2 Player (5 rounds)
           Sealed Deck (5 rounds)
12:30 - Lunch
  1:30 - Type 1 Multiplayer (3 or 4 rounds)
         - Booster Draft (3 or 4 rounds)
  5:30 - Dinner
  6:00 - TEAMS (4 rounds)
This all sounds GREAT too!  It might be good to just do 3 rounds of the afternoon block events (both multi-player) so that the tournament could finish 1 hour earlier.

looks like we could have a lot of people playing Iron Man!  If anyone wants to "reserve" an Iron man soul (Captain Kirk?) let me know!

Jon, are you worried about one teenage girl amongst all those testosterone laden boys? ;)  Well I dont have a problem with that and I am sure my wife doesnt either.

Rob, You and Al were planning on spending the night at the church on Friday correct? and then spending the night at my house on Saturday?

Jon, were you leaving Saturday or were you planning on spending the night on Saturday as well?  Just trying to figure out how many people are wanting to bunk at my place on Saturday.

as for ironman, you can pick your pic if you want to send it to me.  Otherwise I will make up several random/funny souls and let you all choose.

we are leaving Saturday afternoon before TEAMS to get back at a "decent" time.  So it will just be Friday night.

Correct Friday night at the church and saturday at your house if that is cool.

I will definitely be playing Iron Man because I will be playing sealed instead of t1 2 player.

Matt, How many decks can we use for Iron Man?

Can we send you a pic of ourselves for Iron Man?

Any idea how many are expected for t1 2p? I suppose what I am really asking is what are the chances we break the number to be forced to do 6 rounds?

6 rounds needs more than 24 players so there is a very good chance that we may have to go that many rounds..but then again some people may bail to sealed if sealed looks like easy pickins so that may be a bit of a drag on type 1=2 player. We will see but it looks like at least 20-25 people will be there for type 1-2 player.

I thought you need more than 32 for 6 rounds to be mandatory?

I am totally cool with there only being two other players for Sealed.   :P

packs for prizes

and Alex, I miss counted.  It is 32 which we might still get but it would probably be a bit more difficult to get there depending upon commitments

Is the i.d. badge for Iron Man a hero or a lost soul?  Never played iron man so I am a little lost.

Why are we only doing 3 rounds of T2 2p?  I know time might be a limiting factor, but above 8 players you cannot guarantee an undisputed winner using only 3 rounds.  I vote we stay up later and play 4.

ANd we may do so.  I was basing the Type II category lenghts in part on what happened at the Ohio State.  If we have more than 8 we will obviously add the 4th category and stay up later.  If, when we get there, it looks like we will have significantly more than 8 (read 16 or more) then we may start type II 2 player earlier in order to accomodate the rounds in a reasonable time.
