I'll be there and will need a place to stay. Right now I'm scheduled to work on the 26 until 11pm, but I should be able to get that switched so I can get some sleep and play T1 Multiplayer.
Does anybody have plans for a caravan from MN?

I'm currently in negotiations with my wife, but even if I can't go, I know Jayden and Tim (and maybe Justin, not sure if he works that weekend or not) were trying to plan something.
-
I am planning to attend and would like to sleep at the church office again.
Can't wait! :D
-
Unfortunately I will be at camp that week and so will no be in attendance.
-
MY dad, martin and I will be there if the date holds. Minnesota State is the weekend before.
-
Rob emailed me that he will approve it this week so everything should be good to go!
Nathan, I assume y'all will come on Friday night and want a place to stay or will you have other lodging plans?
Kirk
-
just to be clear im staying at the church if possible.
-
Nathan, I assume y'all will come on Friday night and want a place to stay or will you have other lodging plans?
Kirk
Yes we will need a place to stay.
-
Okay, so I got work switched for one job and picked up a shift at the other. However, that gets done at 5:30, so I should be there before 10:00, and once again, will be staying at the church.
-
Man I really wish I could get to this one...softball tournament is that weekend... :'(
-
Hey,
I'm planning to be there and will need a place to sleep.
For the first time in my life I'm disapointed to see that there are no categories running against T1-2P :)

If you have a simple scheduling suggestion to move something next to T1 2p I would be happy to hear it. Or you could judge t1 2p if you are disappointed. :)

It's really more irony than disapointment. As a sechedlue that allows players to play in four events it is a very solid schedule. (With four blocks of events something has to be alone since there's only seven events and T1-2P is the optimal event for that position.) As a player that prefers more rounds over more events I'd be inclined towards moving T2-2P against T1-2P, dropping T1-MP entirely and moving T2-MP and Booster Draft to Friday night, but that's simply a matter of personal preference.

Man I really wish I could get to this one...softball tournament is that weekend... :'(
You need to work on your priorities, sir. ;)
-
:P
Softball has been the one consistent thing I've been able to do this summer because of the craziness of working at the stadium so this year it does have priority. We even have an event that Friday, (not a Twins game), so I'm just thankful I'll be able to do something fun that weekend. I probably won't even be able to go to MN State because of work... :(
-
I will be in attendance, and will need a place to sleep.
-
Is Friday going to be at the church office again, or is everything at the Union?
-
Thanks for the input Tim. I am going to mull on that for a bit - your suggestion would allow us to add a round to T1 2p and Sealed and finish by dinner. Just realized that my current schedule does not accommodate for dinner so players would be eating during Booster and T2 multi, which I think is okay. I have a feeling a number of players would prefer being able to play 4 events.
Others in attendance - would y'all have an interest in a schedule change as Tim described?
Scott,
Every event will be at the Union - I don't believe we will have enough room to play at the church office.
Kirk
-
As long as I get to play either Booster or Sealed I'd be happy. I'd be sad to see T1-MP go but I think I'm the only one that likes that category anymore. :P
-
I would prefer the schedule the way it was.
-
I would prefer the schedule the way it was.
I agree as well. Tim just doesn't like having to face Nathan and my troll decks in T1... ;)
But seriously, I am all for playing in more events if I'm going to take the trip out there. But that's just me.
-
Thanks guys - I will leave the schedule as is.
Kirk

Hey,
Tim just doesn't like having to face Nathan and my troll decks in T1... ;)
How many times have I lost to either of those decks this year? :P
I think I'm the only one that likes that category anymore. :P
I am a fan of T1-MP. I enjoy a category that's as much about playing the other players at the table as it is about playing the game (and doesn't take an hour and a half to play). It's a nice change of pace from 2 player.

Thanks to all who have pre-registered so far. It looks like we will have 10 people playing T2 so we will need to add a 4th round. The student union where we are playing closed at 10 so we will need to move to another location for the last round - the church office may fit 5 matches and if not we can go to McDonalds. :)

Can In redeem Redemption cash that I already have on hand? Would like to get some starter decks, new tin or treasures and disciples have about $200. I can always send it in to Cactus but this would be quicker.

Good question Bill - I was hoping to provide those who place with the first priority. I have about 10 tins and 10 starters and around 20-30 disciples/thesaurus. So we will play it by ear.
Thanks for the heads up King Leo! How many players will come with you?

Hey Kirk I'll probably drive down on Sat morning. If I had a T2 deck I'd come on Fri but I haven't really found time to make one :P.
At this point it will be just me, I don't know if Michael or anyone from Green Bay is coming but I know for sure Ryan cannot.

If you wanted to make the trip, you can most certainly borrow my T2 Multi deck for 2P. I haven't tested it in 2-Player, but I think most of the strategy should translate well, and any modifications that you would suggest can be implemented as well. It did win MN State in MP, so it does have some street cred.
Let me know if you want a deck list. The last time I brought someone a T2-2P deck to a Regional tournament so that he could play, he ended up placing second (and was one very close play away from first) after beating me in the first round.

If you would be willing to lend me a deck then I would be fine with that. If that is possible then I would come on Fri and would need to stay at the church.

Cool. I will send you a decklist of what I have at the moment, and you can let me know of any modifications that you would like to make, and I will do my best to accommodate them. Will try to send it out tonight.

Master Q, you should build this deck (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/complete-decks/isaiassyrians-state-and-regional-t2-championship-deck/). Not only is it similar to the T1 deck you've dominated other tournaments with but it's also proven itself by going undefeated against both MN and WI players alike. ;)

Looks like my kind of deck but I don't have sufficient copies of some of those cards so that wouldn't be possible for me to make. I'd prefer to just borrow a complete deck anyway.

Where is the best place to park? It looks like it is on the U of W campus.
Bill
That's my question, too. Mostly curious if I should bring some extra cash for parking.
-
The one time I went there, there was street parking available a few blocks away (but it took awhile to find open spots--not sure how much that changes during the summer, but if it's anything like the U of M during summer, it will likely be about the same to a little better).
I think there's a nearby parking garage if you don't like hunting for spots, so extra money probably isn't a bad idea. But I don't think it's required.
-
Several options for parking.
A. Street parking is everywhere - can usually find several spots within a few blocks.
B. Parking structure underneath Union South but it costs money.
C. Park on Oakland Ave as close to Monroe St as possible. The church office is on the corner of Oakland and Monroe so you will be able to keep your car parked there the whole weekend and be set. Half a mile walk to Union South.
Everyone can feel free to call with questions - (904) 263-0972. Look forward to seeing everyone!

The one consolation was that the winning deck originated in MN...fresh off of a T2 Multi win at MN state. Also that was T2-2P, not multi.
I had easily the worst tourney for T2 ever personally. But ill report more later after I get a bit of sleep.

No he made some changes to the offense. No more TGT.

Nathan had 2 losses. I think Tim won with +16 differential even with two timeout wins.

Wow, so EC Regionals (30 players in T1-2p, 39 players overall) was the biggest Regional tournament this year :)

That'll way to represent.

No he made some changes to the offense. No more TGT.
How much defense and what types did you see?
Tim 2 timeout wins? thats still 2 points a piece- Just need to close them wins out. I remember Kirk telling me that 3 timeouts is like a loss.

Every deck seemed to have at least 6 ECs and 5 EEs and the majority of them had a couple more than that for both characters and enhancements. Note I checked all 30+ decks so I may be misrepresenting in a couple cases.
Defensive flavors of the day: Pharisees, Magicians, and Egyptians (a few Gates of Samaria for good measure).
Offensive flavors of the day: Disciples, Isaiah/Daniel, various aggro banding chains, Judges/Prophets mixes.
And yes - I did say that before. Three timed wins is the same as a loss - you only received 6 points for 3 wins which is the same amount of points someone with 2 wins earned. 2 timed wins may not hurt you, but 3 often will and definitely 4 will as you can testify to from nationals last year. ;)
Thanks to all for a great turnout! 27 players across 4 states.

Yeah, I would guess that Iowa is the front-runner for 2014 at this point. Unfortunately that would probably push TX (which I think also has a strong case) to probably 2016, since it would probably have to jump back to the East again in 2015. The question is where in the East? Since this year is in the Northeast, perhaps the Southeast would have a good shot (GA maybe, or FL if YMT changes his mind about big tourneys)?

If Nats '14 is in Iowa, I'll be there. I'll be at any Nats with a Pizza Ranch right down the street.

There is a Perkins a couple miles from the church with a turnabout in between. I will be running the shuttle to Perkins every night on the hour from 10:00pm - 2:00am.

Last night I just saw the first ever Pizza Ranch (to my recollection) in the Twin Cities. It's about a 15 minute drive from North Heights.

I'd guess with the Roundabout, the shuttle might be delayed on the way there and back...I'd say every two hours.

Hey,
I think Tim won with +16 differential even with two timeout wins.
If my memory serves my right my games were 4-0, 5-0, 5-0, 4-3, 5-2 which would be +18 not +16 ... not that it really matters.
Tim 2 timeout wins? thats still 2 points a piece- Just need to close them wins out.
The first time out was against a player that had been playing for less than a week and had to read all of the cards in his hand to know what they did but was playing with a good (I'm guessing borrowed) deck and the second timeout was litterally 10 seconds away from finishing. So I wouldn't be too worried about my time outs ... if it weren't for the fact that I had two of them at North Central Regionals too. Makes me kinda glad that we're doing Top Cut at nationals :)

... or FL if YMT changes his mind about big tourneys?
Honestly, a Florida Nats would not make sense unless everyone flies here, or plans their family vacation around Nats. Central Florida is not an easy drive from anywhere. You could get here from Cuba on a man-made raft faster than driving here from most states. ;)

;D A lot of people fly to Nats anyway, and even more people would be likely to do it if Nats were right next to Disneyland where they probably WOULD plan a family vacation around it. I think FL makes as much sense as CA did several years ago (which I also supported).
But it's all moot unless you decide to get back into hosting big tourneys. And I'm by no means pushing you to. I understand that your experiences discourage you from that course of action, and you enjoy just focusing on the fun of smaller tournaments. I'm just saying that if things changed, I could see you having a shot. Of course this is all just my opinion, nothing official.

I was going through my cards and found an extra Sorrow of Mary. Anybody missing one?
