Title: MD States
Post by: Korunks on March 11, 2010, 08:51:40 AM
It's official!  Everyone please note there was a slight error in the form and the cactus web site has incorrect information.  I am sure it will be addressed soon.  The tournament is on Saturday only.  This is a tentative schedule.  What do you guys think?

Date: June 19th

Starts: 9am
Venue: Maple View Baptist Church
Venue Host: Shawn Capron
1600 Singer Rd
Joppa, MD 21085
church: (410) 676-3786‎
pm me for my cell if you need it.

Tentative: order of events:

PHASE 1:
Type 1 Multiplayer / Type 2 Multiplayer

PHASE 2:
Type 1 2-Player / Type 2 Two-Player

PHASE 3:
Sealed Deck /  Booster Draft

Tentative FEES:  $5 per open event.  Sealed Deck = $10.  Booster Draft=$15.

Snacks and drinks will be provided by the church at reasonable prices.

How does this look for every one?  I want to get the ball rolling on this bad boy as soon as possible.

Wow One Day and no responses, is no one interested in attending a MD state tournament?? ;)

I would need the date before I could say whether or not I would be able to come.  Also, Ginger DiMaggio expressed interest in hosting as well but she'd probably rather defer to you.

I hope to see you next weekend.  :)

I have been talking to Ginger, but I am mostly trying to sort out the categories for play.  What do people want to see? I can change what I have posted above.

Adelphi is just 2 hours from Joppa.

Well, I'm only interested in Booster Draft so it would be nice if that were in the second or third time slots rather than the first so I wouldn't have to leave as early to get there.

We'll talk more tomorrow, but I had an idea about T2 because of the way our posse is...

I might try to get down from Pittsburgh. If I were, is there anywhere I can stay at the church or wherever to avoid a hotel, since I don't think I'd want to drive back after such a long Redemption day.

Let me check. :)
Title: Re: MD States
Post by: TheMarti on April 13, 2010, 12:40:24 PM
That looks most excellent to me. :)  I am very excited about states. We're going to have a fun booster draft... :)  I may need to bump up the price, but if I do, it should only be up to $17. I need to do some calculations and such to make sure, I should get back to you guys later today on definites.

And because this booster draft is going to be so fun, I need a head count of how many people plan to come and be there so I can have everything ready ahead of time.

Thanks gang!

This is awesome. The only thing is I kinda wanted to do a sealed but Booster totally takes the cake on that one lol. For booster....are you gonna do a traditional like last time, no packs, or are you gonna do tins? Either way is fine wtih me...I just wanna do booster baby!!!

In the case of Sealed vs. Booster most of our tournaments we have extra time, so we may have time to break sealed out and try to run it alone.  We shall see what the time indicates.

And this is just me (usually I'm coming the farthest), but I'm all about staying longer for states too. I usually don't expect to get home till late after a state tourney... so I'd be willing to break 'em apart too. :)

5/6 Brown brigade ec
Set aside 3 OT male heros in opponents' territories for 4 turns. If a female doesn't make a rescue attempt that is successful during the turns, discard those heroes.

What is "sealed deck" ?
Title: Re: MD States
Post by: 3-Liner And Bags Of Chips on May 20, 2010, 10:58:06 AM
What is "sealed deck" ?

Sealed deck is when you get a starter deck, usually g/h and then you get to pick 3 boosters and then you make a deck based off of that. And in this one you can trade with your opponent.
Title: Re: MD States
Post by: Korunks on May 20, 2010, 11:13:21 AM
you actually only get half of a starter deck, G or H not both ;)

I know. I said it is when you get "a" starter deck. g/h is two...but I could see how that could be confusing... xp my bad...

Hey guys!

IMPORTANT!

You MUST have sleeves for booster and sealed. If you do NOT have sleeves, let me know, and I will get some for purchase.

Also, I will have Roy's deck holders for sale at the tournament. :)

How much would sleeves and a deck box X2 cost?
Title: Re: MD States
Post by: TheMarti on May 25, 2010, 11:06:02 AM
The sleeves will be $1 for every 100. They're your basic clear sleeves, Brandon is picking some up for me, cause he's awesome like that.

I sell the deck bags at the same price that Roy does ($12/bag) and should also have counters available for purchase.

Booster Draft or Sealed Deck?

Title: Re: MD States
Post by: 3-Liner And Bags Of Chips on May 28, 2010, 03:03:57 PM
Depends on what you like to do. People find sealed fun because it is playing with starters that go against each other and you don't have to build the decks. Booster is fun because of the interaction and you get bunch of new cards. It is more challenging. I personally love booster...

New? Well,I've been playing for one year.
I can build decks as good as the cards I'm building them with. Yes I can build decks pretty well. I'm still learning and gaining experience.
But,I understand the game,I'm just trying to learn the combo's.

Counter bags- pending- if so, they will be $2 each. I just don't have it all situated yet.
U/L, Prophets, Apostles, Pats, Kings, Priests, and TeP packs- prices pending, I will have them for you there.

Brandon should have clear sleeves available.

And Brad will have single card sales.

Sounds good? Good. :)
