Ok, my calendar has two weekends blocked out for MD States, which did we say was the better option for everyone?
A. May 25/26th
B. June 16/17th
C. Something else entirely that I should have written down...

I would prefer the 25th. I can make the 16th work, but it'll be a stretch. But! If more people prefer the 16th, by all means, do it that weekend!

That May weekend is absolutely perfect for me. The June one is absolutely horrendous (sister's got her dance recital...yeah, won't have a vehicle available to me).

The current plan had been to look at doing a District on 5/19/12 and States maybe on 6/16/12 when we talked before. I can't remember who could/couldn't do certain weekends, but I know Blake and I are unavailable 6/9/12. I'm still trying to see about getting the Sanctuary in my church, if we're able to host States, and I had been looking at the June date. If this needs to change, we need to figure it out ASAP so I can change the plans :)

The last time this was discussed the majority was for a June States for MD. This may date is news to me. I know we planned a district in may, but never states AFAIK.

That's fine. Like I said, it was written in my calendar (from who knows when). We (Gretel and I) are on board with the June date. So Dayne, get us the venue...

Uh, is there actually anything wrong with the June date? We have at least four people who have said the May date works better for them.

There isn't anything wrong with the June date, that's why we are hosting the tournament in June?

Right now, based on previous discussion (and the time it will take to get a States together logistically, plus the approval), I will be submitting an application for 6/16/12 for MD States once I know I can get the space I'd like. Note that this is the weekend before Regionals, but that gives everyone who is not going a chance for a big tournament that month.
As far as the planned District, would everyone prefer this to be done on 5/19/12 or 5/26/12? Turns out the application got buried and not sent in like I thought (wondered what happened...), so I can still change that date.
PLEASE RESPOND HERE OR PM ME BY FRIDAY IF THERE IS A PREFERENCE FOR THE DISTRICT. I have to get this set up and make sure the church is available for whatever day (have it booked for 5/19/12 currently).

And when it was discussed at our tournaments, June worked better for more of our players, unfortunately they are not on the boards to vote. But they are also a very important factor in selection.

And when it was discussed at our tournaments, June worked better for more of our players, unfortunately they are not on the boards to vote. But they are also a very important factor in selection.
I don't disagree that they're important, however, so far there's five people just in this topic who prefer May, with three of them unlikely to attend June. I'm not saying it has to be in June, I'm just asking that the question get passed around a second time before we commit to June.

Well for the record there are around 12 players that June will work better for(including the Dimaggio's) who all have younger children that would prefer June, and probably will not attend if it's in May. Last I knew we had 1 in Baltimore that preferred the June date. 2 from adelphi, 3 more local.
The point is we will do our best to be accommodating, but MD players need to have a little more say in the dates, because it is their state tourney and many of these cannot easily travel to another states if they miss this one.

No, don't get me wrong, I understand, and I agree that MD players should have the most say, I just want to double-check, if it's not too much trouble.

Yup, we've got PA states! It's not PA you need to worry about, it's your MD kids.

I could make it to the 26th, but I'll be in Reading for a car show on the 19th.

Also, either of those weekends is fine for me. I'd lean toward the 19th, because I'm thinking about going up north to see my family the last weekend in May, but if more people want the 26th, I'll just go up the previous week.
