Well, I am in Florida, but I was just curious which Auburn you were referring to, since most states have a town/city named Auburn.  ;D

Yes,
I'm the only option you have for Alabama players. We are in tiny little Centre AL, a small town in northeast Alabama. I'm willing to wager we are about three hours away.

I'm willing to wager there's nary a single T2 player.

I'm trying to convert to both. I have finally obtained 4 edicts.

Try the Redemption 1.5 decks used by the guys in South Florida. They are 105 card decks that meet the deck-building requirements for both Type 1 and Type 2.  ;D

I'm still disappointed that one FL guy who dominated that one year didn't make it Nats to demonstrate the power of that 1.5 deck idea.  I was really hoping to see how he'd stack up against the top T2 players in the nation.  As such, I think the only quality win of a 1.5 deck was against RTSmaniac in a single tournament.

But I'm always interested in unique deck ideas, so it would be neat if this one got off the ground :)

I suspect that as well.  But Clift certainly qualifies as "top type 2 competition".  So either that one tournament was a fluke, or that deck type works better than most people think it would.  I just wish we could've found out for sure.

FTR, I played the "Master" and his "Apprentice" in a T1-MP game that year and I almost beat them (4 LSs). That was without SoG-NJ (I had NJ in my hand for many turns), mostly because I mistakenly checked in my watered-down 70-card deck that I used for training my playgroup. The Master hit me with both his AoCp, but I had an EC in my hand the first time and Unknown Nation the second time. The Apprentice only ever attacked me, so even though it was a MP game, I think my Disciples-Persians deck held off the 1.5 decks just fine.  ;)

Honestly the one brigade that might have enough strong enhancements for a "Type 1.5" deck to compete with a normal T2 deck is probably Clay. There's so many battle winners, 2 CBN Heroes (Peter and Stephen), Scroll of Isaiah and of course Gamaliel's Speech. One of the decks I have built right now utilizes Clay and there's only one enhancement that I have four of, and I could probably cut that to two without losing too much of the deck's strength.

Defense might be a bit trickier to find a theme strong enough to stand when only having 2 copies of its powerful cards (whether it's strong generic ECs like Proud Pharisee/Creeping Deceiver or strong enhancements like Horses and End the Battle cards).

People like me tend to throw out this kind of advice/information for the sake of anyone who reads the Message Board, even in passing. Although I was responding directly after your post, I was not necessarily directing all my comments toward only you. I am confident that the others were doing the same. I tend to word my posts with the expectation that new players are reading the Message Board as guests.

I apologize if my posts seemed condescending.

I was simply commenting on the feasibility of Type 1.5 decks.  8)

The Type 2 deck I posted in the National Tourney Winners forum was only a few cards away from being Type 1 legal. I think I made some changes to make it legal and played SirNobody with it once. I don't remember who won though.
