...since NJ had its state tournament early, and I freakishly managed to outlast some kids (plus a couple of older players) to win Booster Draft, my name has temporarily and almost accidentally been listed on the main page of Cactus as the current RNRS points leader in Booster Draft. This is truly an embarrassment for Cactus and for the Redemption world, and I assure you that as soon as results come in from other states I will be rightly bumped back into the obscurity I so richly deserve.
(I did print out the page to frame it, though, since this is a genuinely once-in-a-lifetime event for me.)
Once again, I beg the forgiveness of the Redemption community, and promise never to do it again. (Since next time the killer BD players in the region will smack me down hard.)
-
I'm disappointed. You're supposed to take the worst cards in the pack if they're fun. Seriously, atleast 50% of my recent booster drafts I've drafted Book of the Wars. That is the most fun card ever.
-
This is historic! You must add this to my webzine! Send it to my PM box and I shall add it for you!
-
could you possibly post the results for NJ States so I can post them to the Northeast region website, northeastredemption.com.
If you would allow me I would love to post any pictures that were taken from the tournament to the site as well. Please email any photos to northeastredemption@gmail.com.
This website is for all of you players in the region so I would like it to be seen as such.
In Christ,

Not to worry Steve. Things have returned to normal. You were bumped today when I received CT State results. It was fun to see you up there as a leader for a few days and I am pleased to say that you did not disappoint me. I was confident you would make some public comment about the rankings. It was just too good for you to pass on.

Needs more Wrestling with God abuse.

If I let that pass, I would have to turn in my jester's cap. ;D
Sanity has returned to the Redemption world. Unless, of course, I can win the BD at Regionals...nah, better go back to drafting those mismatched enhancement-heavy decks.

Good job having the states a week before I got into Redemption...
-
Well, we won't have another States, but you can join us this summer for Redemption Retro Madness...

Good job having the states a week before I got into Redemption...
And..make sure to be able to make it to Regionals and Nats!!!
Welcome, our new NJ host!!!
-
Madness? THIS. IS. VINELAAAAAAAANND!
I won't be able to make it to Regionals, unless a massive miracle happens. I'm a Master's Commission student, and we only have Monday off. I will be going to Nationals, I just don't plan on doing very well.

Well if you fail to plan you plan to fail. Unfortunately, I don't think it works the other way around...
-
If I plan to fail, and succeed, what have I done?

If I plan to fail, and succeed, what have I done?
Both the same and the opposite of what you would have done if you had failed.
-
EXACTLY!
Edit: I also (weather permitting) plan to wear my native garb on at least one day.
-
It may be too cold for a bikini and flower lei.

That's for my Master's graduation (our director likes Hawaiian shirts). More to the point, wrong side of the planet.

You live in the Kalahari Desert?!

Thanks for a great thought provoking addition. (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/index.php?topic=12349.msg332503#msg332503) This reminded me of the ST:TNG episode where Spock short-circuits advanced robots by convincing them that everything he says is a lie and then telling them that he is lying. Good times :)
-
...That's one of the three ST episodes I've seen...

OK, I am having a traumatic existential crisis. (And by traumatic, I mean I'll forget about this by...oh, look! a butterfly!) At the NE Regional I placed second in Booster Draft. This means I have a local 2nd, a state 1st, and a regional 2nd this year. The existential question I face is this:
Am I becoming a serious Redemption player???
I don't think the Redemption world could handle that. Rob might even close down Cactus just to keep that from happening. (The good news is I won't make it back onto the leader page ever again.)
My reputation is at stake here. Please tell me it's all a freakish coincidence, and that I remain the funny bone of the Redemption community. I couldn't take it if I walked into a tournament at any level and had someone say, "Well, Steve's here, so that just kicked Booster Draft up a notch." I'd rather hear, "Well, Steve's here...RUN FOR THE HILLS!"
And don't even START about Type 2 2-player. Just let me say I'll never play Type 2 again...
-
the question is are u going to nationals? and playing booster?
-
Well, I am going to Nats, and Booster is one of my favorite events, and I sort of feel obligated to allow myself to get slapped down, so yeah.
Hey, here's an idea: If I win BD at Nats, I will surrender my jester's cap and never annoy Rob again. (That's how confident I am of falling short on the National stage.)
Of course, Rob could always limit BD to three players, and allow only himself, another Cactus employee, and me to play, and they draft no characters...hmmm...he'd never rig a tournament event just to get me to shut up, would he?
-
It's entirely possible. I'd say it'll happen for sure if you take down that picture of him on RNJ's website.
-
Would I also have to delete the article about the cheating scandal he was caught in at Nationals? ;D
-
Shhh! Don't tell him that!
