Florida Players!!!

We need to brainstorm a date for FL States. The weekend of June 12th works best for me, since that is right after Final Exams for my students.

As of right now, since money and supplies are limited, I was thinking of doing all five of the open deck categories and none of the closed deck categories. So, we would have Type 1 2-player and multiplayer, Type 2 2-player and multiplayer, and Teams. If someone else has access to enough supplies to do either Sealed Deck or Booster Draft, then please let me know immediately. Otherwise, a $5 cover charge for all players should cover the tournament cost.

Please post or PM any questions or suggestions. We need to make a decision quickly, though.

Hey Man, where in Florida would this be?  If it isn't too far from TN I might be able to come! (If I came I could possibly bring some closed/booster stuff)

I didn't really know where YMT was located.  If he was in North FL, I'd be able to possibly come!

Orlando could be a possibility for the Knoxville group. Allegiant Air has really cheap flights from Knoxville to Orlando.

Well, if you guys are going to do that, then we should make it a two-day event. Should we do Friday night and Saturday, or Saturday and Sunday? I will be working until early afternoon on Friday.

FYI, my house can sleep quite a few people, if anyone needs a place to crash.

Nice! Yeah I'm sure I'd bring 3 from south FL. Is it going to be at your house again Tim?

I'd prefer Fri/Sat. That also allows board games after the first day's categories finish which is always a blast.

Yes. The churches around here continue to be stubborn. That's the only reason I had put it off this long. However, Rob said that my house is fine. As you saw, we can fit a lot of people at my house.

We would probably need a place to spend the night, unless of course someone else is coming from a further distance and needs it. What would the tournament schedule look like if you have an idea?

YMT, would local players be able to sleep in the living room?

Jon, I do not have a schedule yet. Right now I just want to get the application in asap. We can work together later to come up with the best schedule.

Regarding sleeping arrangements, we have the one guest room that has a bathroom, a queen bed, double bed, and room on the floor for two sleeping bags. My son and daughter can sleep in my room that night, to free up their bedrooms. My son's room has a bunk bed with a queen on the bottom and double on top. My daughter's room has a double bed, and room on the floor for two sleeping bags. The living room has a queen sleeper sofa, and room for someone to sleep on the extension. There would also be room for several sleeping bags on the floor. I also have a screened patio that has several lounge chairs you could sleep on. If need be, you could bring a tent and sleep in the back yard.

Is it legal to do only the open categories and none of the closed ones, at a state tournament?

The new rules say that you must offer at least 5 categories and that Type 1 2-player and Type 2 2-player must be included. That's the way I read the new host instructions. If I am wrong, please let me know!
