Title: Braymer, MO: T1-2P and Super-Sealed
Post by: Red Warrior on February 08, 2012, 02:48:39 AM
Redemption Braymer

From the Cactus Website:
Braymer, MO---March 31, 2012
Local (Open) Tournament. Host: Joey Shivers, jrs198@cccb.edu. Braymer Christian Church, 306 N. Main, Braymer, MO 64624. Type: Type 1 - 2 Player ($3.00), and Closed Deck - 2 Player ($12.00). Starts: 10:00a.m.

Tournament Details
Doors open at 9:00am for Deck Check-In. Pairings will be announced by 9:55am, the 1st round will START at 10:00am.

Type 1 - 2 Player: It is my intention to offer 5 rounds of play (less predictable than 4).
Players may check-in two decks. Deck is to be chosen prior to official announcement of opponent.

Sealed Deck - 2 Player will start around 3:00pm. We are introducing a Cactus approved "Super-Sealed" category. For $12 entry fee, each player will receive a G or H deck (at random), 1 TxP pack, 1 Disciples pack, and 1 Priest Pack. That's 84 cards to work with, and includes 6 cards from Redemption's 2 newest booster expansions. This will help my new players to get new cards, to have an equal footing, and will also give us long time players a unique experience! Give it a try ;)

Accommodations (or lack thereof)
We offer INDOOR PLUMBING! We will have a sign up sheet for $1 Pizza Slices that will be offered during a short lunch break between rounds. Any store located in our microscopically small town is within 3 minutes. If you need something that can't be purchased at Casey's or Dollar General, plan on bringing it with you :) Casey's is across the street from the Church.

Please RSVP here if you, or people from your group, will be attending.

Notable Rule Alerts:
--With Samuel's search ability under question, it should be noted that this host has determined that Samuel cannot search for a copy of a David or Saul when one is
already in play (The same precedent as Creation of the World).
--Note Cactus' 2 New Rules: SoG/NJ may not rescue your own souls, and you may only have as many Dominants in your deck as Lost Souls required

Hey,

I'm just outside of KC, and I might be able to attend. What time do think you'll be finished? Glad to see another tourney around here, I haven't seen one in this area since MO states.

 :D

Hi Red Wing!

I really hope you can come. If you play Super-Sealed we will take 15-20 minutes to distribute cards and allow you to do deck building, and then get under way. That being said it should be about 5:30-6:00pm when we wrap everything up.

Hopefully we'll get some more tournaments going in MO soon!

I should be there. Do you know if anyone's planning on hosting MO States again?

Not sure yet. I'm sure one of us will step up to the plate, there are plenty of qualified players in the state.  :)

Kory Lentine did a great job of organizing and operating State last year, that was my first tourney back after a looong hiatus, and I really enjoyed being able to sit back and actually play  :D

Bump: Zach Zeiss is coming down from Iowa. Any word from Isaac (Rubberband Warrior) or Kory (Kordel Lentine) in KC?

I PM'd both of them several months back about tourneys around here, but I never heard back from them. However, they haven't been on the boards since last summer.:-\

Less than 2 Weeks until Braymer's first local tournament, woot!  With all the players that Todd had in the KC area there have got to be some other players out there who would be interested in attending! I really could use a heads up on who all will be competing in our Super Sealed event so make sure I've got enough stock. Let me know if you (or people you know) will be attending our tournament the 31st. Thanks!

Super Sealed :O Sounds so fun. Wonder if Count Fount is going, have you asked him yet Joey? If he is going I'll see if I can tag along.

I'm sorry can't make it. Being a pastor that day. Besides that, I couldn't find the medicine I require to play type 1.  ::)

Will rule #3 (Max 2 good and 2 evil doms in deck) be used?

We will not be using the restricted tournament rules.

Just the basic new standards:
No First Turn Mayhem
No Dominant may rescue your own souls
The # of Dominants in your deck = or < # of Lost Souls

KingLeo, glad to hear that you'll be coming! Where will you be driving from?

Just got word of 2-3 more people that might be coming from the Egley family. My players are going to be destroyed, and they'll enjoy every minute of it, lol.

I've added this to our tournament information (above). If there are any other ruling or tournament related questions you would like answered before Saturday, feel free to email me (jrs198@cccb.edu) or txt me (515-710-7730). Make sure to include your name in either case so I know who is stalking me, lol :P )

Aww, sorry man! I don't really do much selling any more. I mostly give decks away to new players. With a tight income I don't keep much a stock, but if you all would like cards from the 2011 Expansion there may be a few people there willing to trade.

You all have a safe drive tomorrow, make sure to use the destination directions I posted (above) to avoid any GPS surprises ("please take a left into the unoccupied cattle pasture"... "recalculating").

Isn't this the truth, I have fond memories of this happening to me and Brian Cooper on our trip over there years back. ;D

I'm curious to know how the tournament went with the new rules in effect, how did that go?

The new rules delayed a couple of my games where I had 3 LSs redeemed with SoG/NJ in hand. That didn't change any of my scores by more than 1-2 Lost Souls though. For the Dom cap, I used Captured Ark instead of DoN, Lampy and a temple instead of GoYS, and I cut Burial. I didn't see any Mayhems except for the one I got in Sealed, and I didn't get on the first round.

btw, here's my sealed deck: http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/complete-decks/braymer-mo-march-31-super-sealed-3rd-place/ (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/complete-decks/braymer-mo-march-31-super-sealed-3rd-place/)

lol, close... give or take 3 hours. That was Des Moines, IA that you and Brian went to. That's where I grew up and had a big playgroup through my Church and Highschool Gamer's Club. We're a lot closer to ya'll now down here in Missouri. Hope you can make the next one John!
