Booster Draft format question for NJ/Northeast players

I'm thinking of running a "Super Booster Draft" at our next event (local or district). Instead of drafting from a tin, players would be given one of each of the boosters currently in print, including TxP and Disciples. This would be:

Unlimited
Prophets
Apostles
Patriarchs
Kings
Angel Wars
Priests
TxP
Disciples

You would thus draft and build your deck from 96 cards, including lots of the rares/URs available in TxP and DI. Of course, that would also mean you may need to bring more Lost Souls...

The downside would be the cost. I could probably do this for $20 (for $28 worth of packs), which is a little higher than our usual tin drafts.

I'm going to have Robert bounce this off the players at CNCC, but I'd like to hear from anyone else who might want to come and play.

I wouldn't be able to make this, but it's worth noting that in general, getting a tin is more valuable to players than a few extra packs. Also, a "Super Booster Draft" refers to one of everything, including Womens and Warriors.

Super Boosters can be a lot of fun.  I'd recommend running them with at least a tin, and then TxP/Di

I could add Women. but I have no Warriors. The problem if I add a tin is that I'd have to bump the cost to at least $30 (without Women), and that might put it out of reach for some of my players here.

The reason I don't want to use a tin, beside cost, is to get back to the old BD feel. With a tin, you're building around a core, which does make it easier to build a competitive deck, but it also takes away some of the random factor once your tin has been opened. Prior to tins, BD was a little bit wilder, and it required some concentration to build your deck. Adding TxP/DI would at least give the possibility of a few more strong cards for everyone.

I may just use a regular tin BD, but thought this might be fun.

Then again, Justin and I talked about doing another Retro booster draft. (Real Retro, not that fake "up to Warriors" Retro.  :D)

1 Tin=$15
TexP/Di=$10
2 missing packs from the tins (that are still in print)=$6
Playing a super booster (or close to it)=Priceless

Seriously, that's $31 retail, which is a whole $3 more for 10 awesome cards. Don't forget that the Tins come with packs.

I like the classic Booster feel as well, but the tins aren't that amazing with all of these cards that they totally dominate.

Using two tins and pairing up the defenses...now that's fun.

Thank you for reminding me about the packs in the tins. I did completely forget that for some reason. That would bring it down to an affordable range.

This event would need a new name, one that could be used with any "still in print" booster event in the future.. "Current Super Booster"? "Super Booster Now"?

You could include Women and make it:
A-Pack-'o-ribs Now.
