Hey guys I am hosting my first tourney and we are playing type 1 2-player. We also want to play booster draft to see if we want to include that in the next tourney. My question what kind of combo of packs should we use(no tins please)? and how much to charge? and how many do we need per person? Please let me know Asap! as i might need to order more stuff.

Blue, Prophets, Aposles, Pats, Kings, Angel Wars is the old school way of playing booster you could of course mix it up but its not recomened to use Priests if you dont have the tins.
3 Prophets Packs ftw

TxP is great for any kind of booster. If you have TxP, I would strongly suggest using those (in addition to all the others most likely).

Have you referred to the Tournament Host Guide?  You need six packs from any available expansion.  It is up to the host.  So depending on your available resources you can pick any six packs you have or can obtain.

I always liked the tins when I hosted.  If I were to ever host again* I would definitely include TexP and Disciples (for 2010-2011).   :)

You would charge whatever you decided upon.  Sometimes I would charge enough to cover my expenses and sometimes I would bless my playgroup by charging less.  For a mean, it was anywhere in between $8-$20.

well im using some stock but if i have more people playing it then i will have to buy at a book store. and then the price wil go up but you think this sounds good for prizes:

First place Blue deck box with 100 blue sleeves/ and NJ promo
Second place a Red deck box with 100 red sleeves/ a pack
Third place is a Yellow deck box with 100 red sleeves/ and ...? i dont know what to di for third

Apostles and Patriarchs, and then it would be legal.

waht would be the price though for the draft
If you used the above, it would cost you $20 per person to hold this event, so I wouldn't go any higher than that for the price. If you use Unlimited and Prophets instead Priests and Angel Wars, you can save a few bucks, so that's what I would probably do. Also, you might be able to charge only a very small fee (or none) for booster, but take the valuable cards away from the players when they are done. That way you get all the booster funness at little expense to anyone.

It isn't fair to let people play a category that they usually pay for and still give them a bunch of (admittedly less high-end) cards, all for free? I don't understand your logic...

I would. I play booster for the fun and fellowship it offers, not for the cards I get. It's also very interesting to see what kind of decks people get when they have such a limited supply of cards to choose from.

The fact that you are giving prizes is a blessing to your group already.   :)

As for what to combine for the third place prize, I'm guessing it should be in the $1-$2 range since a NJ is about $5 and a pack is about $3.  Maybe a rare card from your extras?

It could depend on where you live (how close to the location to which the UPC's are supposed to be sent (which I believe in NC)).
