Here's my proposal for the 2P Booster event:

--Cost: $12
--Traditional Booster using the following packs: Unlimited, Prophets, Apostles, Patriarchs, Kings, Priests, TexP, Disciples.
--Tables of 4 or 5 for drafting (would like to avoid tables of 3).
--Order of opening packs is chosen at random.
--Players are then paired up randomly and may being building their decks.
--Players may trade with their first round opponent.
--Each player may choose up to 3 of the following dominants to add to their deck: Angel of the Lord, Harvest Time, Christian Martyr, Vain Philosophy, Strife, Doubt (players will need to provide their own dominants and dominants cannot be traded). (If your name is Craig, you don't get any dominants)
--One single-color Site of any brigade per deck.
--All decks must be sleeved
--Number of rounds to be determined by number of players
--Experience credit rule will be used
--Rescuer's choice rule will be used

Any thoughts, questions or suggestions?

Looks good to me. Although, do we really need the doms? Are these just to speed up the games? Also, I think Bill said it'd be $10 but I don't mind throwing in the extra couple bucks if that's how ya'll wants ta do it.

CHAOS sounds like fun.

If we do booster it would only cost 10 dollars. All the packs plus disciples and treasures. Draft with 4 play 2 player. We can call it Type 2 Booster Draft with the 2 standing for 2 player.

Don't forget we have to leave some time for the battle of the bands. So far we have:

Billy Bang and the Explosives
Cindy and the Alstads
The Hot Timaly Band
Koala Queen
CHAOS (Craig-Lead Singer, Matt on the drums, Josh-Lead Guitar. Its a Grunge Band)

Yeah, Koala QUEEN be preforming:
"We Will Rock You" (before multi-player)
"Another One Bites the Dust" (in between rounds)
"We the Champions" (after multi-player)
"Friends Will Be Friends" (for Matt, Craig, and Bill)

I put $12 so Bill can at least cover costs on the packs since it's a fun event. I would even be willing to donate the Unlimited packs.

Yeah the doms are for a couple reasons; to speed up the game like you mentioned and also to give players a chance in case someone drafts a ridiculous combo (Nero/HHI). That way they have a way around it (would guess that most people will use AotL) and don't just get "stuck" for the entire game.

It has been suggested that perhaps since it is a "T2" event, that everyone would draft two cards at a time, I think this would be a fun variant to try.

What are people's thoughts on trading with the first round opponent? I think it will make decks stronger overall to make for more competitive games, but could it potentially give too much of an advantage to some players?

Makes sense. I'm down.

Another option would be to not include Son of God and Burial on the Dom list and play games to 4 LS.

Doms list:
Angel
Christian Martyr
Strife
Vain Philosophy
Harvest Time
Doubt

Assuming most people use Angel and Martyr, that third dominant choice could be key.

Why add this limit (since it is not a standard booster rule)? Not questioning you, just curious.

As a "T2" event you may want to consider using all three of the optional rules (name on name, rescuer's choice, experience credit).

I'd say no addition of doms, just to keep it close to true Booster draft as possible. Offenses in Booster are almost always better than defense (just the way the cards fall) so I don't think there will be too much trouble with keeping games going.

I'm fine with trading, though it might be kind of tricky, since people don't always know right away which cards they will add to their deck, unlike sealed deck. It would also make the deck-building phase take awhile. But if we can figure out a good way to do it, I'm alright with it.

I very much agree with the site limit. All it would take is for a player to get three sites of colors that their opponent doesn't have (or doesn't have strong Heroes in) for there to be lockout.

I also agree with the experience credit and rescuer's choice ideas. Not that Rescuer's choice will likely matter a whole lot, but it will in some cases. Experience credit will be great in BD though.

Everything else looks good. How did you envision the "trading" period working Justin?

I 2 like:
2 of the Optional rules
2 doms
Draft 2 at a time
Limit 2 sites
Trade up to 2 cards
$12 would cover
62 card min deck
min 20 evil cards

I see Jordan's point on the Doms. Especially since pretty much everyone would be using AotL and CM, chances are that's one free rescue and one free block and if everyone has them they'd tend to cancel out and then they'd be a couple wasted cards, so to speak.

Perhaps for trading we could make a limit of each player can only trade up to 5 cards. That way people won't spend a whole lot of time making huge deals with each other and if your draft well then there shouldn't be too many cards that you'd be eager to trade anyway. Mostly just the ones that you get at the end of a drafted pack that you don't get a choice in getting. I can't think of anything else more effective because like you said, people won't know what they want/want to trade but perhaps Justin will think of something.

Yeah, I agree with site limit reasoning. While we aren't playing with Womens or Angel Wars I'm sure sites will still be fairly popular and lock out games aren't much fun.

Experience credit would be awesome! Rescuer's choice would be fun too.

Also, do you think we'd have the normal time limit of 45 mins or would we maybe go to an hour? Perhaps we should mix up a bunch of cards and do a mock 2P Booster Draft to see how it goes, eh?

I 2 like:
Optional rules
2 less than 2 doms
Draft 2 at a time
Limit 2 sites
Trade up to 2 cards
$12 would cover
FTFY

I still think the Doms will make for a better game. Unlike Sealed deck (which typically gives players at least one banding option) or regular Booster draft (where a player can simply attack a different player), a player could easily run into an EC like Nero and have zero options for the entire game. I realize that most people will choose AotL and CM, but the choice of that third dominant will be very important I believe.

Keep in mind this format is a combination of Booster, Sealed and T1 2P--it is not strictly just Booster.

I would say we could do a 15 minute period for building decks and then a 5-10 minute period for trading/revising decks. What I envisioned with the trading piece was that if a player drafted a great character or enhancement, but nothing to match with it, then maybe the other player would be able to use it, and can trade something the first player can use. Players are not obligated to trade. I assume this will mostly be experienced players who know what are fair trades and what aren't but perhaps we can evaluate that when we see who all signs up to play.

I think keeping it to 1 site would be best, unless we say the minimum deck size is 60 w/ 8 LS.

I love the ideas of doing Rescuer's Choice and Experience Credit.

We could just "ignore" immunity texts for the entire event. That way Angel and CM isn't all that necessary and Nero and POTW are still good because of there numbers but are not broken in this format.

I like the idea of a higher deck size and maybe requiring good and evil to be balanced would make for better games. After all this is the type 2 only.

Meh, I kinda like the immune abilities but I guess if that's what we have to do...

I don't think balanced would work out too well unless we changed up the way we drafted or something. Bigger deck size I wouldn't be against though.

Exactly balanced decks would be tough. Would most people support doing minimum deck size of 60?

I think it would be easier to just include a couple dominants than start changing immunity rules.

Deep (not so) dark secret time...
A few years back when I hosted Regionals, I was going to use all three of the optional rules in T1-2P.

Deeper (but less) dark secret time...
Wild Bill was the one who talked me out of it.

Who is the wild one now-huh?

As much as I like the "2" theme, I think it will be really fun to allow people to choose that one extra dominant. I feel like Harvest Time, Doubt, Strife and Vain Philosophy are all legitimate choices and if played at the right time will lead to a successful rescue or block.
