Megabus! Megabus!

You should be able to get from Minneapolis to Houston for $21 (one way)
Leave Monday at 5:20 pm
Arrive Wednesday 3:15 pm

Megabus only scheduling through mid-June so this assumes no early-bird price/schedule changes when we get to August.

Travis,

Is there an option to stay at the church?

Yes, as far as we know --- Travis and I did rounds when I visited the church, and he showed me the proposed sleeping rooms. Peace and Blessings.

There are 7 official categories (T1-2P, T1-MP, T2-2P, T2-MP, Sealed Deck, Booster Draft, and Teams) that must be offered. They're offered 2 to 3 per day - the schedule isn't out yet.

Iron Man and Type Half are side categories that are not official and are played in downtime or in the evenings, if someone is running them.

Iron Man is just pickup games of T1 2P. Each player gets 10 scoring cards. If you win, you get one of the other player's cards. The player with the most cards at the end of the weekend is the winner.

Type Half is T1 with different deck building rules.

I'm considering going this year (though I'm not sure if I can pull through with it). If there's another side event, I hope Junk Sealed will happen again!

Cube draft and garage sealed? What are they?

Cube draft is a booster draft with pre-pulled cards.  So something like the 16 (this is a guess) best heroes and enhancements from each color.  Then some of the most useful artifacts, fortresses, sites, lost souls, etc,  Each pack has 15 (randomized) cards in it and you pick 4-6 packs then draft like a booster draft.  The biggest difference is once all the cards have been drafted you build your decks and play 1 on 1 games instead of multi-player games.

So basically it is booster draft with only good cards, and you play 1 on 1 instead of multi-player.

Garbage Sealed is each person gets 3 unlimited & 3 prophet packs (it could be 4 of each, I can't remember), and opens them and builds a deck with the cards they pulled and 7 generic lost souls.  You do not get to trade cards, so what you open is what you have to choose from.  It is basically a very nostalgic game, paying homage to the original days of Redemption, and a really fun way to get rid of all the old packs no one wants anymore.

If anyone pulls a Liner in garbage sealed they should be allowed to add a different Lost Soul from their collection. :P

Question: do the Nats ever have brand new players show up? Like folks that have a limited number of cards available to them?  Would there be a problem with donating cards to said players?

People borrow cards all the time, so not at all. I'd recommend starting in a sealed category though.. Constructed is obviously pretty difficult for people who have never played before at nats, but there is definitely comparable lower level competition. Also, Type A is a thing now for kids 12 and under.

If I drove from Delaware - How long would it take me to get to Nationals?

Is the event dog-friendly?  My wife and dog will be with me.

Type A, not sure where to find more information on it but I know it's for 12 and younger with no RNRS points. (the no RNRS points requirement could have changed but not sure)
