Does any one now when it will be held? If not, when will it be announced?

Iowa, Gabe is hosting as far as I know dates aren't set

How is the location for Nationals determined? I'm not qualified (by any means) to host/judge that level of a tourney but we have a great facility (church) that would work really well for hosting games and I would be honored to have it here. I'm the Youth Minister on staff and we have about 7-10 students who are actively playing the game on a regular basis. I'm just curious for future years. Any info would be great...

Location is huge, facility/access to showers, possibility of people staying at the church, air ports close, capable hosts and judges, food, tourism and number of players within a 5-6hr driving distance all seem to matter.

In addition to what has been posted:
Where you are located Regionally matters, Rob tries to spread it around the country. Midwest is due and since they put in a bid, then they are likely to get it (which is why Iowa was said with confidence). You can still put in a bid (because I think you are the Chicago guy), but typically (and I may be wrong) a bid for Nats is put in by January so the kinks and preparations can be worked out.

Mentioning of bid: once you think you have the necessary criteria, then you email and/or PM Rob Anderson requesting to host Nats and list why you are a good spot to have Nats. Rob makes a decision and it is announced around this time of year.

Oh, you don't have to be the main guy or even judge as long as you have experienced people to come along side of you to do it/help.

lol! Those were definitely interesting!!! That and my air mattress that deflated itself every AM of the tournament was soooo awesome, sarcastically speaking....

An Elder told me ages ago that Iowa was definitely confirmed at the T2 Only this year. What's very disconcerting is that a formal announcement has never come this late. Any potential Nats is going to take place only 3-4 months after the announcement, and that's if it was announced today. I'm doing my best to be there, as I know a lot of other people will, but the smaller the gap is, the less likely I'll be able to make it. Can someone with inside knowledge please clarify dates or something so people can start planning?

I believe (yes, that says "believe" so I'm not 100% sure) that it was said that it will likely be July 31-August 2. However if it matters to anyone I'd rather it not be then because then I will likely not be able to go... $:-\$

EDIT: Keep in mind though that that's definitely not official and you probably want to wait until an official proclamation before planning.

If the first week in August is when Nationals takes place somewhere in the Midwest, that would work great for my schedule and a number of other players with us in Chicago. I look forward to hearing more about this!

On behalf of Rob, I'd like to formally announce that the latest anticipated hosting venue for Nats 2014 has backed out due to last minute unforeseen circumstances. We pray for peace in the hearts of the hosts as they face their current trials.

At the moment, and in short notice, a few hosts have already began preparing their hosting proposals. Please pray that God grant tremendous grace to such hosts to have peace with all the pressure of getting venue approvals done in short notice, as well as logistical preparations.

We expect a decision and an announcement for the official Nats 2014 venue by the end of May.

If you get this message and have not yet been invited to bid for Nats 2014 hosting, please PM me your E-mail address and name. I will E-mail you easy-to-follow guidelines to prepare your proposal and bid (fyi, the bid is not a $ bid). Please look at the last weekend in July up to the second weekend in August in planning your proposal. I pray for blessings in your discernment towards your decision to step up to the call to host Nats 2014.

Sincere apologies to those who may have been inconvenienced.

Please keep Nats 2014 in your prayers. I have myself great faith that this year's Nats will indeed be truly memorable and blessed. God is good, and He always provides.

I'll be frank, if the usual venue is up for it, it should just be given to MN this year. It's close to Iowa as it is, and I believe that high attendance numbers are vital given the circumstances, and MN is the only location guaranteed to have good attendance.
