As an avid Yankees fan, i thought that i should make a post dedicated to them! so post about your feelings for the yankees. (good and bad is accepted) LET"S GO YANKS!!!!

I am of the opinion that 98% of Yankee fans are either:

A) From New York, or have a very close connection to it, so they are the home team for them.
B) Not really avid baseball fans, except that they know the Yankees are the team that wins the most, so they join the bandwagon.

Pretty much any other baseball fan that I know of despises them. Especially in Minnesota, where we have arguably the best "small market" team of the past several years that routinely gets beaten by Steinbrenner's money in the playoffs.

1050% of Yankees fans are
1.) People who live in New York, but want to win so they jump with the Yankees instead of the Mets.
2.) People who don't really like baseball and like winning, so they jump on the bandwagon.
3.) Jorge Posada's son.

Hey, hey, hey.... I'm a Yankees fan, bored and bred. Yes, I'm from NY, but my whole family has always liked the Yankees... also, you guys that complain about a bandwagon, until last year, they hadn't won a world series in like 8 or 9 years (I didn't sleep enough and I'm too lazy to check, I believe its 2001).

Real Yankees fans like the team even when they aren't doing well. But those bandwagon people drive me nuts too.

I liked the yankees till all the steriods users were revealed. Then i stopped liking baseball.

I really love the world series argument, it seems to be brought up every time theres one of these threads. At least the Yanks have made the playoff's every year this decade except 08. And if you think 8 years is a long time, call all the Twins, (91) Reds (90), A's (89) and oh, yes, the Cubs fans (1908)

I'm not saying it's a long time. My point is that if they really "bought the team" or whatever people say, wouldn't you hope that would mean they'd always go.

And every time someone brings up the Cubs my heart goes "oh, those poor Cubs.." People who like the Chicago Cubs have to be the truest fans ever. Someday, you will win again! lol.

There is no way that is a fact. Since their payroll is not that low, and has not been in a long time, it is not proven, just a theory.

Regarding the New York Yankees, as a lifelong Red Sox fan, I have a rather storied history of feelings. Up until 2004, the feelings were always the same "Here we go again" sigh. I remember the 1978 one-game playoff (and the Red Sox collapse prior to that game being necessary). That game was much like every game. Something bad would happen and deep inside I just knew we were going to lose - simple things like runner on third with no outs but noone scores, Yankee batter beats the throw to first, catcher drops a pop-up in foul territory, etc. I could just see it coming and it was an awful feeling.

The 2003 Division Series was just like that. As soon as the manager walked away from the mound leaving Pedro in the game, I knew we were going to lose. Another awful feeling.

The 2004 Division Series was so utterly shocking that I can hardly believe it even today. Like most Red Sox fans, I just kept waiting for the dream to collapse - a Bill Buckner moment or a Bucky Dent home run. But it didn't happen. We came back from 3-0 against the Yankees to go to the World Series. That was a good feeling - sweet redemption for years of misery.

After 2004, every game was more tense because we finally believed we could actually beat the Yankees when it mattered. One mistake was no longer the end. We could come back. We could relive 2004 all over again.

The interesting part is that Yankees fans seemed to always be arrogant towards Red Sox fans prior to 2004. Frankly, we had no response. Now there is still a rivalry, but it comes with a mutual respect that we both can win the big games at any time. Now, when something bad happens, even Yankees fans get that awful feeling inside.

Now we're equal.

They went to the playoffs last year with that short of a budget, got swept by the yanks, but hey, they went. Now they bumped up to almost 100,000,000.

He's from Maryland - I'm guessing he's not an O's fan, and even if he is, he won't admit it because they're horrific. PA gives him Phillies or Pirates, I'm guessing Phils. Outside shot he's a Nats fan.
