My parents wanted to name me after a river mentioned in the Bible. Euphrates was originally their top choice, followed closely by Nile and Tigris. Coincidentally, several of my mom's close friends all had sons around the same time, and all three names were taken. So they settled on Jordan. I have been grateful ever since, though I had to defend my good friend Tigris a lot in school from people making fun of him. Nile and Euphrates were both homeschooled.
My middle name, Scott, came from my parents favorite type of paper towel. Paper towels have always held a very important place in my family, and my parents had been using Scott ever since "The Great Tear" that occurred in a Quilted Northern paper towel. I'm really glad that occurred about 17 months before I was born, because I would have been made fun of quite a bit in school with a name like Euphrates Quilted Northern Alstad.
Alstad, comes from the Norwegian Alstad which means: "Hilarious, able to inspire laughter and glee, able to make up random facts to make others chuckle, and pretty much exceptional in every way."
