I have internet explorer and google chrome and both of them crash when I open specific threads. I can never look at those threads because it always crashes. Does anyone know why?

Because they both stink. Download Firefox. It'll solve your browser problems, help your marriage, and make your kids smarter.

I agree I used to be a Chrome user but now that firefox allows multiple homepages its all good :angel:

Might see what setting you have for browser cookies & such... could be that the browser is having touble managing some of the requests the forums want. But I agree, getting Firefox is a good idea.

Dial-up is a way to access the Internet.
Either way, it seems what he meant to say is that his browsers keep crashing.

yeah, well I downloaded firefox and it isnt anybetter than internet explorer or google chrome it keeps crashing when I try to access this thread in the market section.

I dont know why my internet keeps crashing, but it consistently crashes on this forum. has anyone else expereinced this on this forum?

I think it is something on BrianGabe's signature or something. I have noticed that any thread that he has posted on, I cannot access, including threads that I previously had access. Can someone contact him to let him know or is there some way to sort this out?
it is INCREDIBLY frustrating to have my browser crash all the time.
has anyone else noticed this on the redemption board?

I have had problems but I have dial-up and it goes slow on anything so Im kind of used to it...tsh

all right, this is really ticking me off. Now I cant get into my personal Messages. SOmeone sent me a personal message and when I went to look at it, my browser crashed. now I am locked out of all of my personal messages.
Can anyone help me out? Why does my Internet keep crashing. And does anyone know who wrote me that message?

I'm sorry you're having problems with your brower(s). My signature doesn't have anything other than text. I don't see how it could possibly crash your browser. I tried finding browser requirements via the help menu on the boards as well as the SMF website but they don't seem to list any. :-\

Well Gabe, all I know is this
1. I cannot access ANY message that you have posted on. (I think there are a few others to but you I know for sure)
2. I cannot send you a personal message (because I cannot click on your name w/o my browser crashing)
The only way I was able to post this was by clicking on the first page, hiting "quote" on my message, reading your response and posting a reply in this way. I literally cannot open the second page of this topic.
I am not saying that it is your fault, I am just saying it has something to do with you. I have tried it in Firefox, Internet Explorer 7 and 8 and in google chrome. none of htem work.
By the way, did you send me a personal message? because now I cannot get into my personal messages.

Do you have problems only on that computer, or everywhere? I would think about reformatting and reinstalling Windows if it is only that computer.

It depends on how crustpope is accessing the web. On my network here at work behind several firewalls I cannot ping the server that stores Gabe's icon/pic. Of course, when I access the boards I am using an unfiltered proxy so i can see Gabe's icon/pic.

it may be due to this IP address, but it happens on both my desktop and my lap top. But I am willing to try almost anything at this point.
My browser does not crash on any other website, only this one and it only crashed on specific threads. I know that it happens on anything that Gabe has posted on, but I think there are a couple of other people too. I do not know why or how it happens and I would really appreciate all the help I could get in this area.

I dont know, I would have to check but I am pretty sure I do have a firewall. But why woudl that be a problem?

The thing is, I haven't gotten any reports from anyone else about something like this happening, so I can't imagine how it would be a forum problem.

Crustpope, my guess is that your problem is due to the fact that Gabe's avatar is coming from an IP-address (66.43.207.54) as opposed to a hostname. Some security/proxying software blocks that. Microsoft's old IAS is a prime example.

I changed my pic to see if that fixes the problem. If it does I'll try to figure out what the host name is instead of using the IP address. Like my fly? :laugh:

Hmmm, that is our ISP but I think we have our own host name on that server. Gracecommunitysomethingorother. I'll have to check the web server when I get a chance.

Removing the picture from my profile didn't fix it the problem. He could even pull the pic up when I gave him the direct link.
However, I removed the verse from phillipians in my sig and the Miiiiiiiiiiiiiii from under my pic and now he tells me he can view the threads I post on. Maybe the binary on his computer couldn't handle all those i's. :)
Pretty weird huh?

Have you tried a complete system restore of your computer? If you said that somewhere, I apologize, it just crossed my mind and I didn't want to read through 5 pages.
