I like Redemption because of the wonderful opportunities we have to lovingly do comparative analyses between various CCGs.

Ahhh, but do other CCGs have cards that tell you to rip them? I think not. Redemption is clearly superior to every other card game just for this purpose.

Sick gameplay, players I (generally) get along with, forum I like visiting.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

nice find, i had forgotten about that card as well. unfortunately it is from the unglued set, which isnt tournament legal. however, the tournament legal card i had in mind is:

at first glance, it doesnt mention rip in the special ability at all. however, players would rip the card into tiny pieces and throw them at their opponents territory to get maximum effect out of chaos orb. this then led to players spreading their cards out as far as possible so chaos orb could only potentially hit 1 target. some players would even tape their cards to walls!

to this day i still think hamans plot had roots in the urban legend of chaos orb, since their effects are so similiar...rip to cause massive damage.

Shows you how much I know about these sort of things. I still don't even know where "over 9000" comes from.  ;)

Ironically, I remember when MTG first came out. I was a D&D DM for my neighborhood, so I frequented the local hobby shops and cleaned them out of every module they stocked. When I saw the MTG cards, I thought they were "Spell Cards" that were a condensed version of the rulebook in index card size. I thought this would make it easier to store information. When I realized they were something completely different, I just tossed them.

I like redemption because you can sort cards and sort cards and sort cards and sort cards and sort cards and sort cards and sort cards and then you are about half way done with one brigade.

Just get 10 packs of cards, and toss them all into a pile.  It's much cheaper.

I like Redemption because I'm an obsessively sick game player who likes to spend lots of money to collect tons of gaming items, and this gives me a spiritual justification to do so.

Nah, just kidding. I like the game, even though I'm not very good at it, and I like the theme better than other CCGs (and I've played a few). I like that no card is ever banned, so you don;t have to constantly download the latest legal card list, and, contrary to many, I like that there is no cost to play cards in the game mechanic.

(Which "other" game do I like best? 7th Sea, which is OOP and the game play is horribly broken, but you can't beat being a pirate sailing around blasting and boarding other pirate ships to win control of the seas.)

All that said, I still like dice better than cards, though. And the one, last, great collectible dice game, Dragon Dice.

i bet you're kicking yourself knowing the majority of cards in those first sets are easily worth hundreds, thousands of dollars. :)

Indeed. The only consolation was that I got $500 for the D&D modules on eBay.
