Who Actually MATTERS

OK for those who know me you'll prolly all ignore this post anyway but the point is i feel that unless one has a major championship win they do not matter to the community at all. i spent this past year working very hard on a t2 deck that is still horrible. anybody interested can pm me for it. but quite honestly im sick of feeling like i don't matter to this community as a player at all. yeah maybe a few want to be friends but that doesn;t matter when it comes to the game itself im seen as the biggest joke player in the community. I'm writing this thread to see if anybody actually cares about my playskill or not. I guess that's all i have to say but i don't expect much from this thread except more attacks against me. btw in case it matters i also have asperger's but im just the failure of the group because of it.

No one cares how good or bad you are, just that you're there having fun with the rest of us. Your aspergers has NOTHING to do with anything in play skill.

Everyone matters,

Jesus said he would leave the flock of 99 to go and find the one.

When you feel like no one else cares remember you are royalty to your God and Jesus is waiting with arms wide open to wrap in love and welcome you home.

I don't know your struggles with aspergers or even who you are personally but my little brother has Tourette's Syndrome, OCD, and ADHD. I am familiar with the fact that these Situations add stress and hardship to socializing and making/keeping friends.

I pray God will direct to a beautiful and fulfilling friendship whether in the redemption community or not.

I'm not the best player by any stretch but I'd be willing to look at your deck and try to help you out.

Winning championships is not the sole measure of a person or their playing skill. Every hear of Barry Sanders or Dan Marino? I would say they were pretty decent, but neither ever won a super bowl. What matters is liking who you are and being the best you can be.

Does losing to top players count for credibility, because I have lost to some of the best!  ;)

Hey, I know its hard when it seems that nobody cares, or when you think you are perceived as a joke. Outside of the Redemption world, I have experienced that and sometimes continue to experience that. What helps me is knowing that God cares, and that He never sees me as a joke. Same for you. As far as the Redemption world goes, I'm sure there are people in your playgroup or on the boards that would love to help you with your deck. You might want to start a thread about your deck; it would help people see that you need help.

And you should know that you are not alone when it comes to being rubbed the wrong way in the Redemption world. I've had people think that I don't know how to play because I am a girl (granted, I am not the best player, and the wording on some cards confuse the daylights out of me), I've had people tell me that I set my territory up wrong and they have tried to fix it during play, and I've had someone tell me that I don't know how to strategize for multiplayer (I won that game).

I overcame those instances by being confident, and wanting to prove the other people wrong. Prove that you are not a joke. In order to do that you have to believe that you are not a joke.

I can see somewhat of what cg25 is saying, some of the player base does have a bit of elitism running through it.

But then I put it in perspective: these 'elite' players have won at most 100 man tournaments, while some of us are competing in 1000+ man tournaments in other CCG's. So really, if you're decent and make few misplays, luck will have the hand in these small-scale gatherings we call tournaments here in Redemption, which really makes hardly anyone purely elite in this game. :/

There are very few I would call elite in this game, but that is only because of repeat Top 10 finishes at Nats coupled with innovative deck design and great meta calls consistently throughout the tournament season.

I think it should go without saying that you matter as far as I'm concerned.  Despite you playing in two categories I was going for, I put you up for two nights and took you to a States.  Not in many CCG communities will you find that kind of support, and I'm happy to be able to help anyone out, but I am by no means the only person who does that.

Just think, how often do you need a card to finish a deck, and your opponents lend it to you?  I borrowed 3 cards this last tournament from people I ended up beating, but they still did it.  And I've loaned cards/money/transport/a bed for the night to many people.  Some have beaten me horribly (sigh), while others are not as 'elite' (for lack of better term).  Doesn't make a difference to me what 'level' they are on.

This community is great for support and togetherness it brings, regardless of skill.  Enjoy it for what it's worth, and don't worry about people who you think treat you as 'less' than them.  They're the ones that don't matter in a community.

All the people above me have spoken some good truth to you Matt.  You're problem here is that you are equating your skill in winning Redemption games with your personal worth or deserving of respect.

Imagine that you found a wadded up napkin with some doodles on it that was signed by Leonardo Da Vinci.  It would be worth thousands of dollars regardless of what it looked like, simply because of who created it.  Well you are created by the God of the universe, and He is WAY better than Leonardo Da Vinci.  And He designed you to be just the way you are because He has a good purpose for your life.  So stop insulting Him by questioning the value of His creation, and use your time to make Him happy instead of focusing so much on yourself.
