When I was a child, double-posting was non-existent.

When I was a child I believed that Pokemon games would last forever. However the watch battery in the old gameboy games only lasts about 15 years. When the battery dies you lose your save files. Pokemon Red and Blue were first released in 1998. 14 years ago. 2012 is not the year the world ends. However it is the year that I have to finally say goodbye to my beloved Charizard, whom I have had since I was 6. It is a sad year indeed.

is that why my gold version has no save file any more?
dang, thought i could save my typhlosion. gold was the first game boy game i ever got.
good times...

Gold/Silver didn't come out till a few years later, your game's battery should still have charge so that shouldn't be why you lost the file

The average battery life for a cartridge is approximately 10 years. Of course, some will die sooner and some will die later.

Gold/Silver have actually been known to die out sooner than the older games (I've personally seen a Gold die to lack of battery), and I've heard the reason for it is the fact that Gold/Silver keep track of the time, which first generation did not.

One time as a kid, we went to the water park.  At the end of the day, I was more sunburn than my brother.  I couldn't understand why since I went down the Black Hole* three times while he only went down it once.  Obviously, he should be more sunburn than I was :p

I was cleaning out of my closet earlier and found a gameboy (the kind that were two shades of green) and a pokemon game. I got really excited before realizing it didn't work. :(.

Replace the battery in the game and it will likely work (unless you were referring to the gameboy not working), I've seen a battery replaced Gold work before.

I have replaced batteries in a Pokemon Gold before, and it did indeed work.

It's orangeish yellow depending on how watered down it is.

When I was a child, if you were talking about a pokemon and it did not number 1 to 151, you were talking about MissingNo and how to catch a Kangaskhan without having to use an ill-fated combination of rocks, food, and easily-broken safari balls.

On a side note, my wife and I both bought old Pokemon Gold cartridges (of course to prove who was the better trainer) and replaced the batteries in them.  They have since started dying in only 2.5 years.  If you notice the time starting to go wonky, it's time to prepare for a new game.

The batteries they put in them are a bit higher quality than the standard watch batteries you'd replace them with. No idea where to get them though.

When I was a child I thought that all books were written about true events that happened and that I could meet the people in them. Then I started reading post-apocalyptic literature and figured out that wasnt true
