yeah, Tobymac has strayed waay too far from his original roots.

If you like DC Talk, you should like Tait, (now Newsboys too), and TobyMac.  I like TobyMac, but I like him as a music producer better.  He makes it possible for sooo many other great bands to be out there, like Relient K and Skillet.   

not true. I didn't like Tait, I don't like TobyMac. they are VERY different than DC Talk.

and as far as producers go, Trevor McNevan over TobyMac anyday. Teerawk ftw.

I like TFK but I do not know the people that are in the band.

Nick Baumhardt was touring with them for Guitar, but I'm not sure if he still is.

likewise, FM Static's members are Trevor McNevan and Steve Augustine.

Probably my favorite band at this point is For Today. Lyrically, they are just about the most forthright songwriters I have seen on the Christian metal scene in quite some time. For some softer stuff, I love Holding Onto Hope. Also, Means is a really good band, although they disbanded a couple years back.

I agree with potg about For Today. They are great. Another one to go along with For Today is Sleeping Giant. They are unashamed of the Gospel and share it from the stage. (My boys and I have seen both these bands live and they love to share the Word).

How can one hate metal? It's like, the best music on the planet! 

Metal kills plants, who are apparently smarter than the people who listen to metal.

Seriously, metal is just irritating to my ears. I like actual lyrics and a nice catchy tune that isn't generated by white noise. And if I want to hear growling, I'll go to a zoo, but keep it out of my songs please.

I don't understand what kind of effect metal has on other people, but it just makes me more uptight than I can be comfortable with for more than a few seconds. A soft tune - especially with wholesome lyrics - soothes me.

Maybe it's a type A vs. type B thing...type A people need to be calmed down, and type B people need to be wound up more?
