I'm currently reading (as silly as it sounds) The Artemis fowl series.
Not quite a ghost...but not quite not.

I've actually heard that that's really really good. I've been tempted to read it myself.

...chicks dig philosophers.
Someone clearly hasn't seen Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure recently.  Philosophers are "such a geek", and the chicks dig Billy the Kid.

Fiction Mark, pure fiction.

Or maybe I'm atypical because I play music as well.

How can you say that something that realistic is fiction.  Next you'll be telling me there isn't a Tooth Fairy or Easter Bunny!

Your problem is that you can't conceive of a nerd that chicks dig.
The nerd isn't cultured, the Renaissance man is.

False. That depends on the nerd and his cross-section of interests. "Nerd" is a blanket term for anyone whose primary interests lie outside the mainstream culture of "cool", e.g. lowbrow music and movies, booze, women, etc. While nerds may take interest in those things or be quite good in social circles, their fundamental interests are atypical, e.g. philosophy, hardcore gaming, computers, mathematics, CCGs, literature, etc.

See, I think the problem is that I live in Nashville. Everything "indie" is the mainstream cool.

I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

I will speak at the level of sensibility provided by the forum. I'd think it'd be pretty obvious by now that the cliche about Special Olympics and arguing on the internet is cliche because it's true.

I'm just saying that you aren't a participant in the Nashville night life and thus, in my opinion, are a poor judge of its people.

No one asked you to do 10 pages of off-topic nonsense.

Back on topic... I haven't been reading a whole lot lately... last book I read was "echo in the darkness."

Yeah.... I need to read "as sure as the Dawn." My fav character in the first two was the gladiator, so I should enjoy it.

On a side note... they aren't the greatest books... the language they use REALLY doesn't seem like you're in the Roman times.  :-*
