Question about some tournament Etiquette. What are you expected to do when some one does something not allowed, like play AotL on a Prince of Persia with no Daniel in play? Do you allow them to pick it up? Is it wasted? What if they forget to do something stated on an enhancement or an artifact? What happens then? I am going to My First tournament soon and need to know what the rules of the road are so to speak.

If it's an illegal move, it can't be done and they should let you play again. Especially if a local. If its state and it can be a legal move, then be ready for them to say, sorry its a legal move, so make your decision (in your example having to choose another EC to use AOTL on)...just be VERY perceptive of what's going on, ESPECIALLY if you are at top table

Let me start by saying that in this situation, AotL was wasted. If you bring a judge over that's what the ruling will be. That said, the final decision will be up to your opponent.

How I react to mistakes like this depends entirely on the person I am playing. If a little kid or someone newer to the scene made that mistake, I would allow him to take AotL back into his hand if he asks to. If I were playing someone who should know better (e.g., JSB23), in most cases I would make him waste the card. In a fun game, I (almost?) always allow anybody to take back an obvious mistake.

Just to clarify TechnoEthicist's point, playing AotL on Prince of Persia w/o Daniel in play is completely legal. You are merely targeting a character who is protected from your card--so AotL fizzles to no effect.

Thanks for the answers. This came up in a game I played today, my opponent AotL my PoP and I let him pick it up. I just wasn't sure if that was allowed in a tourney. I try to be kind, but in a tourney I was unsure of the expectations. Oh and what is top table?

"Top table" is slang in Redemption for the top 4 players (since 90% of the time the table will only fit 4 people other wise this number may and can change :p). I personaly let people take back 90% of mistakes even if its in a top game, unless if its cards played in battle which should never be taken back.

I've been at top tables and usually I let people take back moves. Some I can't...HP.

it really depends on the situation as to whether or not I let a person take back a card. If I'm playing Stamp or DaClock I usually don't because they don't ask to and it goes both ways. We are all good enough to know what can and can't be played so a miss played card just becomes a wasted card. However if I'm playing the youth in my play group I usually let them take it back because I want them to feel good about the game and not like the just make mistakes and lose all the time.

More accurately, it has an effect, but the player must choose an EC that he is allowed to discard.

Word to the wise: always check your cards at the beginning of your turn. Check your set-aside area, check your territory, check your Artifact pile. You don't always get to go back and fix things, and the farther away you get from your mistake, the less likely that even a lenient judge will give you a do-over.

Personally, I know I occasionally make mistakes while playing Redemption that I really regret, so I usually treat my opponent how I would like to be treated and let them take things back. I always do this in a non-tournament game, and usually even in a tournament I'm fine with it, unless there's a good reason not to let them change their move.

The artifact pile and over excitement cost me first in Regionals in 2007. Sadly, no one offered to let me take it back.
