In my point of view today’s music is just like the passing clouds, it won’t touch the harts of the listeners like Classical music dose. What is your opinion?  Please share……

In my professional opinion, the newbs of the past (ranging from Freddie Mercury, to Michael Jackson, to Mozart, to etc....) can't compare to Lady GaGa.

There is music by committee, and music by artist
The later lasts, the former makes big bucks quick and then becomes Milli Vanilli

"Placedo Domingo? I guess he can sing,
Oh, but mostly he just leaves me bored.
I think it's all trash, if it ain't Johnny Cash
  Or Tennessee Ernie Ford

Luciano Pavarotti? To me he sounds haughty
There's something you've just got to face
If you sing a song and want me singing along
  You better sing bass"

my main problem with classical music is it doesn't have enough depth. it sounds like 2D music sometimes. but the only thing that I've found that compares talentwise to classical is death metal.

+1... FWIW I think new music touches hearts too.  Look at Christian worship music, or death metal (even non Christian). Part of it is the social fad, classical music isn't cool now so you don't dare listen to it in public, lol.

Classical music? I'm not really sure it touches the hearts of listeners very much.  Now don't get me wrong; I love me some classical.  I just don't think it touches that much, other than its being very soothing to listen to.

Maybe its me but I really get into some "Classical" music. When Beethoven's 5th is played, I really get into it. Classical can touch the heart of anyone, just as any other kind of music can.

both, although usually the live is only when I play it or have to listen because I'm in a recital/concert.

Awwww :(

Anyways, my take on music is this.

There are two "kinds"

Lyrical Based and Music Based.

Music based is stuff such as Jazz, Swing, Classical, etc. Anything that relies purely on the music itself to invoke emotion/thoughts.

Lyrical based would be any type of music with a lyrical singer, using the lyrics to invoke thought, etc. along with the music.

IMO neither if better than the other, it just comes down to A preference and B talent of the individual musician.

I'm guessing you have never heard anything by David Maslanka.
