no... which one was that? Collide, Comatose, Awake, Invincible, Alien something or other... they have others?

You're missing the Ardent Worship album and their very first two albums (before Invincible).

wasn't the Alien something or other before invincible?
I've only heard Angels Fall Down. I found that on a live CD of theirs.

Alien Youth was after the worship album which was after Invincible which was after Hey You, I Love Your Soul which was after their self-title album.

This should help ya out.

Ok, I need to explain this to you.

My pastor once used Noah's Ark as an example.  Everyone knows the story of Noah's Ark.  They've gotten so used to hearing it that it doesn't mean anything to them.  That's not God's fault or the Scripture's fault-that's that person's fault.  They've heard it so many times they think they know it inside and out, but with God, there's always more to be found and learned.  You can hear a story from the Bible 1000+ times and get something new out of it every time.  But you've got to be open minded and you've got to yield to the Holy Spirit.

There are, however, some terms or Biblical principles people use too much, such as jobs being ministries (my family has had to deal with people who do not pay them because they, out of nowhere with no prior warning, say that the job is a "ministry").
It could be them thinking of what to say next.  As will so instead of going au or umm they go God Jesus

My Bible study leader at my college would do this very thing for that very reason. However, it's not always because people want to seem holy. Repeatedly saying Jesus' name in prayer is to some a form of worship. I doubt Jesus minds too much so long as the pray-er's heart is focused on Him, and not on trying to impress others.

This is why I am not a huge fan of praying in large groups. The Bible says where two or three are gathered, not where twenty or thirty are gathered. I'm not saying such prayers are wrong, but when you pray in a large group, especially one in which there are people you don't know very well, there is a strong temptation to make yourself sound as holy as possible through what you say. That can even apply in smaller groups, but I'd say the temptation is not as strong.

My church actually still uses a hymnal, so I can't really say anything about repitition in music.

There is nothing wrong with hymnals. Sure, it can sometimes be just a glorified sing-along, but if you really focus on the words, and what you are singing, hymns can be some of the most awesome worship ever. Be Thou My Vision is my all-time favorite song.

When the Bible said "where two or three are gathered", it didn't mean specifically two or three.  It was attempting to convey a principle to the reader.  The "temptation" you speak of is only temptation, and there is no temptation that cannot be yielded to.
