Was that a good game or what(even tho colts lost)? Loved the part were the guy went into sidelines and tripped over the down marker and hit that poor old dude on the head with it.

I didn't like the part when Brett Favre wasn't the winning QB.

Ugh, Minnesotans and the whining. I like how you couldn't spell his first name right, but got the last. That's generally the other way around.

Why didn't he play? ??? I thought that the only reason he came back this season was to play in the Superbowl. ???

His Hyundai commercial was pretty good, however.

The Saints didn't deserve to be in the Super Bowl, but they did deserve the win once they got there.

And is it just me, or was there not even anything controversial in the Tebow commercial in the first place? What was everyone so worked up about?
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

It was controversial because it was funded by Evil Conservatives (tm), Taliban-like fundamentalists and hypocrites who have an insidious hidden agenda to deprive all women of their basic rights and protections, and promote family structures that lead to the killing of wives and daughters and physical abuse of children and families.

I'm not being sarcastic.  I pulled every word of that sentence from HuffPo this morning.

Okay, the Evil Conservatives (tm) was mine.

It's controversial because CBS refused to accept this ad for the 2004 Super Bowl

United Church of Christ - Bouncer

They claimed that this rejection was because of some CBS policy "prohibiting advocacy ads, even ones that carry an 'implicit' endorsement for a side in a public debate."

Say what you like about the Tebow ad, it carried "an 'implicit' endorsement for a side in a publci debate." Even is this jaded age, blatant hypocrisy still has the power to create controversy.

I didn't even understand what it was about until afterwards...

However, my favorite ad was by far the Doritos ad with the little kid. *SLAP!* "First, don't you touch my momma... second, don't you touch my doritos!"

Yeah, that one was great, but overall I was less than impressed with the comercials in general this year. There were only about four really good ones that set themselves apart.

Yeah it coulda been for diseases that infants get, etc. It was very vague and 99% of the people watching won't remember the link at the end.

Both Doritos commercials were awesome. The bud light house made of full, bud light cans was epic. So was the Brett Favre commercial. Hm... yeah that's all I can remember... sad day...

The commercials stunk!  There was one that received a guffaw, two got a chuckle, and the rest were met with deadpans.  And seriously, what's with the trashing on men theme this year?!?  Did they only accept emasculating commercials?  Is it in response to the Tebow commercial??

[/rant]

Good game though!  Closer than the score indicates.  You youngens don't fully comprehend the epicness of the Saints win.  My buddies and I have been watching football ever since the Saints organization came into being.  Several years ago if someone said the Saints would win a Super Bowl, and along the way their defense would contain THREE future Hall of Fame quarterbacks, we would have said it "ain't" ever gonna happen.  It was truly destiny.  The Saints had it right.  Even though neither team succeeded, the Saints were always going for the undefeated season as opposed to the Colts, who felt winning the Super Bowl was more important.  How'd that work out for ya, Polian and Caldwell?  The playcalling was a microcosm of the 16-0 quest.  The Saints went for it on 4th and goal.  With plenty of time after that Caldwell went "safe" and called three straight runs.  Saints get the ball back, kick a field goal, then come out to start the 2nd half with the boldest, gutsiest call ever in a Super Bowl with the onsides kick!  We are so lucky to have the past few Super Bowls be good, close games with epic plays that will be remembered for decades!  Even the refs called a good game.  The game completely made up for the lack of good commercials.  It's really how it should be: the two best teams playing a great game.

And Peyton Manning can't blame it on the refs... it was ALL his interception...  ;)

There's nothing to me more amazing than the way Drew Brees played after the first quarter.  29 of 32 is just ridiculous.  Neither one of those quarterbacks are human but 29 of 32?!?  Including a spike and a dropped pass?!?!?

That was incredible. After the first few drives, I thought: "Wow Brees is inaccurate today". I guess that didn't last long.

Yes that was truly amazing.  It was a great game and it could have gone either way.  The Saints earned it so congratulations to them.

You know how sometimes you read something and you know exactly the tone of voice the person who wrote it would have used to say it? Like the somber, reserved tone that I just "heard" from reading the above post?

Not only that, but I'm almost certain that that critical interception came from the Saints actively playing for an interception. It's why the Colts got four or so first downs in a row on that push; the Saints defense was wholly concentrated on the pass interception. The guy who finally picked it was hanging out behind the receiver just looking for the opportunity, and he nailed it. That's ballsy play, right there.
