I support censorship.

Government Censorship?? So when Christianity is viewed as harmful to public view, and the Government decides to censor christian sites (like Redemption) you'll be content? We already have too much government control.

This is dangerously close to turning into another "should Christians force their morality on people" debate.

I read the first part and thought you were being an immature 15 year old, but then I read the second part. Either way, let me know how the SS does with silencing you. I need some feedback on that side of the censorship program.

That's actually not true if you believe in no legal abortions or banning homosexual marriages.

Actually Alex, that's not true. The government was supposed to uphold the law, including God's laws and commandments. So you can be an advocate for pro-life and anti-gay and still be for minimalist government since the Bible was supposed to be the root of the law in the first place. Unfortunately very little people in government recognize the Bible as the root of the law so we have to make man-made laws in order to appease them.

Then is there no difference between a "minimalist" and an anarchist?  After all, the minimum of anything is zero.  Phrases like "minimalist" are too vague, in my opinion, because almost everyone agrees that government should do SOMETHING.  We just don't agree on what those "minimal" things are.

1 - Minimalism refers to the elimination of everything unnecessary, so unless you believe everything is unnecessary, it would not equate to your idea of anarchy.

2 - Anarchy does not mean lawlessness.

Well we're arguing semantics then, which is pointless.  "Minimalism" has its origins in art and music forms, but we're now using it in political speech.  I think we are agreeing actually.  I'm just saying that where the bar is set for what constitutes "minimal government" will change with every person that you speak to, making it, in my opinion, a rather useless phrase.  It's like me saying I'm for "smaller government", but at the same time I wish that on MY pet issues the government played an even larger role than it currently does.  Instead I think we need to be more specific on what we'd like to be cut and what we'd like to see increased, otherwise we are rightly accused by Alex and others of just cherry-picking our favorite issues while we scream for "minimal" government intervention.

Regarding anarchy not equaling lawlessness, I'm not sure why you felt the need to add that, since I neither said nor implied that anarchy equals lawlessness.  I was only stating that you can minimize government to the point where it doesn't exist anymore, which I don't think anyone in this thread is advocating.

I wasn't responding to the second part of your post, just the "Minimalism = Anarchy part". I understand you feel minimalism is subjective, I just don't think equating it to anarchy to represent Alex's point of view is accurate.

Found this kind of funny actually.  I'm not saying I fully agree with their definition, but apparently the experts don't agree with us.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/anarchy

Anarchy - definition B - "a state of lawlessness ..."

It's my understanding that anarchy is without rulers, not without rules, and often relies on the collective efforts of the people living in the society. This makes it sufficient but not necessary. In fact, when I looked up the etymology, the first result said "1530s, from Fr. anarchie or directly from M.L. anarchia, from Gk. anarkhia "lack of a leader, the state of people without a government""

It seems most of the definitions point to the same thing (no government), but the one you posted incorrectly extends too far. When arguing over specifics dictionaries aren't really the greatest of references. For example, I can find several problems with almost any definition of male, especially the one merriam webster gives. But I suppose this isn't related to the government's boundaries and should be discussed in another thread.
