Jeez. The last time I saw you Kirk, you were like 5'8" and 165. Tempis Fugit
-Ross

I will vouch for his current size since I just met him a couple days ago. However, I was hoping he weighed more than 215, since I weigh 225 and I am shorter than he is.  :'(

Of course, you need more than size to be intimidating. My wife's father was 6'6" and over 400 pounds, and her two brothers were 6'2" 350 lbs. (semi-pro wrestler) and 6'4" 280 lbs. (former Army Ranger), but they were all just big teddy bears in real life.
My wife is a hottie.

Ipods are over rated

Show me ANY device that is more powerful and has a better app market than the iPhone/iPod Touch.  Argument over.

Meh, I just hate Apple in general. Apparently if you stick an I in front of something its market value immediately rises by 50%.

Apple could put a monkey in front of very thing, and it would sell. And there are great reasons why Apple's products would sell. 1. They may be more expensive, but they are better. Seriously. Quality, reliability, and easy access are all top notch. 2. They don't crash, seriously. I've had my apple computer from almost a year now, and it has yet to crash. My iPod touch (Which I got for free, along with a printer, when I bought my mac), has yet to crash. 3. Apple computers do EVERYTHING faster. Don't believe me? Download windows into the Mac, and run the same programs. It's been proven to be faster. I'd cite the link, but I read it in a magazine.

Those are just three of the reasons why apple owns windows.

Ross, I don't believe I could have possibly been that small at Nationals in New York.  If my memory serves me correctly, I would have had to be at least 6'0", but the weight might have been about right.  That is weird to think I haven't seen you in person in that long....

What does power matter AT ALL if the device has no use to you?

Okay for all Ipod people
 80g Ipod price $250
Total $250

Mp3 player w/ headphones $50
Basic cell phone $25
GBA $30
Total $105

See I can get a good game system an Mp3 and a cell phone for cheaper then 1 new Ipod (and I haven't even added the price of music to this list)
and I'm just curious when are you going to listen to all 10,000+ songs? I would rather save money and just spend 15min updating my songs when I need to. that's just my  :2cents:

there's also movies, which take up more. I have 700 songs, but with all of the LotR on my zune, among other movies, it's going to get short quickly

Um, that's only because Windows isn't native on a Macintosh machine. If Windows had dual-boot software and you could run OSX on a Windows-Based computer, OSX would run just as slow, because it's not native to that computer type. Further, Apple computers don't do everything faster, and if you had actually owned both for an extended period of time, you'd know that. Apple does a good number of things really well (which is why I own mine at the moment), but Windows is far superior to Apple in other areas.

At $50, it sounds like you're talking about a 50-song player that doesn't show you what you're playing. Essentially an off-brand iPod shuffle. If you want to compare to the actual iPod itself, you need to provide prices for comparable players, like the Microsoft Zune, Creative Zen, etc. all of which are close in price (but slightly cheaper) to the iPod itself.

Second, I backup my Windows computer on my iPod, as well as store my 35Gb of music and 60Gb or so of movies on it. I use almost every bit of my 160Gb. :)

I got my 80GB for 199.99.

GBA is not a good game system when you've got the GBA SP not to mention DS and PSP.  Also, games cost money, unless you're content with using just the one switch and being entertained by the +coin sound bite?  Furthermore, you can get a cell phone for $25 but you also have to pay for the service.

I listen to my entire library of music (I've got upwards of 150CDs) and I can listen to everything I own whenever I want.  Having the large capacity is a luxury that I very much enjoy.  It also gets me "street cred" in the dorm.  You can't put a price on that, although that has more to do with artist choice and variety rather than quantity.

If you want to go your route of reloading music then you can get a nano that holds 240 songs and costs only $49.  I believe that is the same as your mp3 player?  Oh, and it works all the time.

Sean
May you prosper greatly!

4 years ago that might be true. Nowadays 50 bux gets ya 2 meg, radio, recording, a full screen to see and select songs  and all that jazz. It can't play video but hey, its a music player.

Comparing apples to Apples, $99 will get you a SanDisk Sansa with 8GB, FM radio, audio-recording, a full screen, a full screen to see and select songs, memory expansion capability, and a video player. If you are willing to give up the ability to record audio, forego expanding the memory, and listening to FM radio, you can get a similar iPod Nano for $139.

On the Shuffle front, a new 2GB iPod Shuffle runs you about $70. The equivalent 2GB no-screen player from Creative cost $40.

All prices from Amazon, and subject to change.
