I saw a quarantined thread for the first time and I was wondering what kind of material would warrant a quarantine v.s. just deleating a thread and who has acess to a quarantined thread?
-
Maybe the mods want to look at something in a quarantined thread but when they delete a thread it is off topic or things like that. Only mods have access to quarantined stuff, I'm pretty sure.
-
Was the thread quarantined bc of leaked info? Just curious if it's not supposed to be out there as of yet and that's y it was quarantined?
-
Threads are quarantined so that, if a member feels a deletion was unjustified, other moderators can review. We still have the option of deletion, however, it helps things run a little more smoothly. My assumption is that the thread you're talking about was quarantined because of leaked info, however, I don't know why exactly RDT opted to move it.

Chris is correct.
As a general rule, we don't like to leak full details of cards. We may hint at small things here and there, drop a card title in casual conversation, etc.
What was posted wasn't the actual ability on the card, but it was pretty close. Standard policy on such leaks is to [EDITED BY ROSES] it. However, since just about every post in that thread had the ability/name I simply moved them all.

Ok I got you and apologize for my ignorance it won't happen again

I wouldn't apologize. The rules for spoilers around here tend to depend on the day, the mood of the playtesters, and what phase the moon is in. Sometimes Gabe will announce a big leak, presumably without the go-ahead of his fellow playtesters (though I don't know for sure), other times we won't hear anything for months. Inevitably though, about 10 regular members who aren't playtesters will get a good look at the list.

I wish I could have seen this thread you guys are talking about.
-
Quarantined threads is where moderators send threads that are too entertaining to delete.
AKA: Goat threads 1 and 2, the cheese thread, etc.
-
JSB is incorrect with his opinion on what gets a thread quarantined.
To the original OP's question and to all who are curious, the real reason for quarantines existence has already been stated...

Deletion is possible but quarantines are more prevalent for checks and balances/accountability.

So....... They are Held Until Mods/Admin make a Decision regarding whether it should be Deleted and/or kept as a sort-of precedent for Future similar threads and/or Just Kept as a Record if the thread needs to be cited in a future Discussion?

Has a Quarantned Thread ever been returned to the boards?
-
@ JSB: Please do not reference past painful moments...I have deleted your reference.
@ Raven: you do not have to explain yourself..what had happened was wrong. I deleted your comments so new people don't see past hurts (and edited JSB's post so that the past can stay in the past.)
@ YMT: technically no, though I was thinking about reintroducing an edited version of the Bronies thread. Though the recent blowup has given me pause.
@ Warrior: pretty much yes to all. the quarantine section offers multiple benefits.

That saddens me, because I had been championing for the ponies thread to be reintroduced without the offending posts. However I understand what you're saying, and if the members of this boards can't be respectful and Christ-like when it comes to that topic, than it probably should remain quarantined until they prove they can be.

You have to do what you have to do. I find it problematic that anyone who dislikes a topic can simply post rude comments and get the thread quarantined. I guess I'll have to try that for all future political discussions. ;)

Please don't. I will look at the thread tonight after my children go to bed.

That was a joke, hence the winking smiley. ;)
You can do that when you actually have time, which if you are like me, would be around 2am after the baby wakes up crying and I spend an hour getting him back to sleep. :o
-
Yeah, I hoped you were joking but I wanted to be sure.
I totally understand the lack of time. Today is the first time I've been on in 3 days. I don't have a baby, but I do have 4 children. :o
