Nationstates is a political simluation game that was developed by Max Berry to complement his novel Jennifer Government. You get to run your country, adopting positions on various issues that are brought before your attention (1 per weekday; this can be increased if you choose) as head of a small nation. Does anyone else play this game? You can see my current nation with the second listed link.

Cool find.  My new nation is Planet Genii (long story on the name).  I don't like that it's so slow to progress (only 1 issue per day), but otherwise looks pretty sweet.

Any thoughts on the political groups?  New Warsaw Pact is after me to join, but I'm a bit leery after what happened the last time one of those came around.

I actually played that a while ago. Prison camps had more freedom than my friend's nation, where as I was strict but just barely.

SK, I have my setting at 2 issues per day because of that. Try change your settings if you want a little faster pace.

Personally, I don't join any of the groups. As you've noticed, as soon as you join, you start getting spammed with people who want you to join their region. Regions like that typically act in the role play form of Nationstates. Because there is no built in war or raiding, a lot of people go ahead and role play that aspect of the world on the Nation States forums. So, it's really up to you. If some people join, I was thinking of starting up a Redemption Region, just so we can all be together in once place. It doesn't really have any benefits of anything though.
