Playgroup experiences

I'm wondering if anyone has had the experience of starting a playgroup from scratch - i.e. meeting with a group of people who have never heard of or played the game, and teaching the game from the beginning.  Living in Bangor, Maine, I have not had any success locating people familiar with the game and am starting to think I may need to create a group out of whole cloth.  I would greatly appreciate any words of wisdom and experience you all might have to offer.

Why don't you start by teaching people one at a time?

When we had a playgroup back in the day, it started from a base of good friends who all happened to play. I wouldn't know what to tell you about just creating one.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

When my wife and I moved back to WI, we just started hosting tournaments on the third Saturday of every month. That way it was a consistent schedule. Sometimes it was just us and her brother, but  now we have 10-15 other people every month! It has taken us 3 years to get to this point, but the consistency was what did it for us, along with having them be official so that people would see them online. We tried talking with two youth groups and got the permission and support of both youth pastors, but that didn't go anywhere...

I would figure knowing you, pol, you, colin and the rest of the 5 just came together to just play, you guys are the  redemption equivilant to the guys from the movie "The Sandlot" where it's just a group of guys coming together to just play a game. though it didn't last it still remains as my starting point in the game and it was those times I mostly remember in redemption cause I learned from you guys and for that I appritiate everything you guys have done to help me out in becoming the player I am today
Your biggest competition is YOURSELF
