player ranking system?

ok, I've been in the game for almost a decade and I just wanted to start up a friendly but a bit of a serious discussion on player rankings overall. I mean we all know the pros; Justin Alstad, Gabe Isbell, and a few other guys but I on the other hand fail to see what rank of player overall im in cause it's actually hard for me to tell so I have to get a second opinion on this so I can know for sure what rank im at.

im not trying to be selfish in anyway but if I am I humbly apologize  but I do have a few questions:

how can you tell what ranking of player you are overall?
is it based on experience in knowledge or experience in years of being in the game?
what exactly are all the player rankings overall?
and

if there isn't one set could we have a discussion on this matter so we could for fun have one officially?

We could rank based on how much better or worse we are then Westy.

how can you tell what ranking of player you are overall?
You can simply ask me.

You are #73 on the list of active players, New Raven BR, and #186 of all time.   ;)

that's not what im asking. im asking about like as far as rankings like pro, veteran, ect, im not going by numbers. and I know im better then that, emjaybee. I mean put it this way; nationals 2012 I placed 24 out of 65 that played in type 1 2 player and I had a 3 game win streak going and was looking to just continue the streak but I made the unfortunate mistake of playing genegyptains in a mirrior match at the time against prof underwood, when I should have played my nearly unstoppable garden tomb deck

I bolded the 2 parts that I see is potentially conflicting.  If you play for fun, then rankings shouldn't matter.  Rankings show how you do competitively, and for a lot of people...competitiveness and the discussion of it is NOT fun and can hurt feelings.

For fun ranking example:
We could rank based on how much better or worse we are then Westy.

For competitive example:
how can you tell what ranking of player you are overall?
You can simply ask me.

MJB would know because he did a serious amount of work to check everyone's ELO ranking.  We've had a thread on this before.

Double Post:  Upon further reading, you may be asking for your label?
My Definitions:
Ranking: Numerical value of where you are.
Label:  A description of your knowledge of the game (Veteran, Experienced, Collector, noob, etc.)

In that case, most people typically label themselves how they define each one.  For example: to me, there are no pros because no one is paid to play the game which is the definition of Professional.

I just thought it would be fun if we had an official set ranking on a description on our knowledge of the game is all but im not going by what ranking I think I am cause I don't see that working well at all for me to see where I am as a player. im just going by what other people tell me where I am based on my overall rankings as a player not speaking actively though cause I want to see where I am as a player cause I would trust other people's words rather then where I see myself in the game. I mean I don't think it's possible but I just don't trust myself to acknowledge where I literally am as a player cause if I try and acknowledge it, ya'll be like "what fantasy world are you living in?!" if that makes any sense at all. but like I said im not going by numbers, but what I am asking is what label defines me as a player in game?

Well, I guess that makes Matt Sinclair a professional player because Dayne Maust paid for his booster fee, even though Matt didn't really want to play, to even out the numbers at Nats. :P

Is this list available somewhere? Or could you at least post where I'm at because I'm somewhat interested.

Ooops, in this case I was just joking (I added a post-dated smiley to the quote).

If you search the boards for "Glicko" you can find the posts I did on this. I only did the rankings for T1-2P in Nats and for a half a year or so of ROOT.

Oh, I get it....did you go to Tim's RNRS spreadsheet?  Or did you pull arbitrary numbers (which seems odd to me)?

If I hadn't pulled numbers from out of thin air, then it wouldn't have been a joke.

Soul Seeker, if you had seen MJB play TEAMS at Nationals a couple weeks ago, you would know that he never jokes and never has any fun...ever...  ::)

how can you tell what ranking of player you are overall? Do you play heroless?

is it based on experience in knowledge or experience in years of being in the game? Based on how many heroes are in your deck. If Heros > 0. You lose rankings.

what exactly are all the player rankings overall. They rank your 1337 levels.

In honesty rankings are nothing but numbers with no value except how hard you get jumped at a multi table.
