PM either Roy (Reyzen) or TheSchaef and varify that you are over 16. Nothing else to it, just gotta wait for one of them to be online (which Roy appears to be)

Pretty much this.  It also helps if you act mature.

It's more of a way to protect cactus from liability isn't it?

Liability to protect them from people saying something dumb or ( controversial  :-X )
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

I don't think there's so much an issue of viability as it was that it was agreed on, when the forum was created, that only those 16 and older could use it because of the controversial nature of some of the subjects on the forum (there were roving Colins on the loose at the time on top of everything else) and that in general, people under 16 wouldn't necessarily post constructive content on the forum. It was a blanket rule, but it made things easier than taking it on a case-by-case basis.

Im not certain that many people over 16 are posting constuctive content on the Open Discussion, but I jest.  ;)

Discussing the discussion of controversial topics is in itself controversial. I am in support of moving this thread to the Open Discussion child board.
