Odd Or Interesting Additions To Common Bible Stories

There are plenty of Bible stories that we have heard throughout our lives that unless we read it ourselves, we usually miss a minor detail (e.g. with David and Goliath, we usually end the story with the stone killing Goliath but usually don't mentioned that David then took Goliath sword and cut off his head as well as taking said head to Jerusalem while storing the 125+ pound armor in his tent).  I'm reading through the Chronological Bible and have notice a couple of things:

1) We all probably know about the last supper.  However, did you ever notice that before they left, they sung a hymn together (I noticed it after reading it three times in a row :) ).

2) We all probably know when Jesus was telling Peter about how he will deny knowing Christ.  However, Jesus goes on and tells them to arm themselves (Luke 22:36-38).  You don't usually hear that part in the sermons :).

Anyone have any other examples?

When Elijah was taken to heaven we usually assume he used the Chariot of Fire, but if you actually read it, it says something along the lines of:

A chariot of fire separated Elijah and Elisha and Elijah was taken in a whirlwind.

Then it goes to mention that Elijah's cloak (or mantle) fell and Elisha took it, rolled it up and smacked the river and it parted just like Elijah had done before.

This is from 2 Kings 2 I think, I'm doing this by memory so I may be wrong.
If you are reading this signature, thank a physicist.
