Nominations for the HoF Class of 2011
« on: May 05, 2011, 01:50:41 AM »
0
For the next 3 weeks, I welcome everyone to contribute any nominations for a Redemption Hall of Fame class of 2011.  These will be taken to the Hall of Fame Advisory Committee, and will then return in June when everyone will be able to vote for the candidates that they feel are most deserving.  The people receiving the most votes will then enter here.

I would appreciate all input onto this thread being positive.  Please state why someone deserves to be a candidate as opposed to why someone doesn't.  If you have any reason why someone should be excluded (steroid use, etc.) please PM me about it.  :)

Feel free to share interesting stories about each of the nominees in addition to your reasons for nomination.  Have fun all.  :)

P.S.  For reference, the HoF:AC is made up of XeroSplash, mosestaff, SirNobody, slugfencer, tcmgoingon60, everytribe, faithraider, Prof Underwood, crustpope, lightningninja.

I would like to nominate some people from previous year's slates:
Quote
Keith Bartram – [T1-2p (x3)] - Winning Redemption's biggest event at nats every time he went.
Joshua Hey – [T2-2p, T2-mp (x2)] - 4th place overall RNRS when he left the game.  One of only 3 players to place in the top 3 at Nats in 3 different events in the same year.
Eric Kimmons – [T2-2p (x2), T2-mp (x2)] - Only player ever to win 4 Nats in a row.  One of 2 players who have won at 4 different Nats at all.
Sam Nurge – [Sealed, Booster] - Winning the two "random" events in the same year, proving it isn't quite so random
Roy Cruz – the Heart of Redemption, Nats host, Elder
John Michaliszyn – Nats host, Creation Festival Guru, Elder
Stephen Schaefer – Creator and manager of the Storehouse, Overlord of the online forum, Nats host, Elder

I would also like to nominate some people who were brought up last time as being very deserving.
Bill Voight - Creator and manager of Redemption Camp, Creator and host of the "Annual T2 Only Tournament"
Kevin Shride - Elder, Nats winner [T2-2p]
Mike Wolfe - Currently creating "Redemption Live" to replace RTS
Josh Kopp - Heroless wunderkind
Daniel Whitten - [T1-mp x2]
Tyler Stevens - Consistent winner over the last 5 years as evidenced by being in the top 30 RNRS points of all time.
Nathaniel Pearsons - Long-time host and leader of Redemption in the midwest.

I nominate Jonathon Greeson.  He's won at Nationals, has a good playgroup, and is a huge boost to NY Redemption.  All while still being a n00b.

Justin Sangillo built the first succesful speed camp deck I know of (Tim Maly first concieved the idea, I think).

Wow, I can't believe I got nominated.

I nominate Alex, he is a Redemption stand out and I heard a rumor he was part of the team that went in after Osama Bin Laden. He may also be an animorph, development is pending.

you know it'll be like 2017 before we even get through the play testers right?
An unanswered question is infinitely better than an unquestioned answer.

I would like to say that we should only put in one from each category every year from now on. There was WAY too many put in last year. Sometimes we might want to just skip HoF all together. Not everybody deserves to be in it.

It has actually been the plan all along to only put in one from each category each year from here on out.  We put in extras the first 2 years to catch up for all the previous years.  However, there aren't any plans to skip any years.  There's still plenty of great people to recognize. :)

Despite your obvious hyperbole, I would also be quite surprised if all the play testers are ever voted in.  There are only 4 left that have been brought up in this thread so far.

I'm afraid that I can neither confirm or deny this information. However, I am at liberty to say that one of the biggest arguments against this hall of fame thing (voting in active players) may be negated in Justin's case, in reference to his inside knowledge on national security issues.

I wouldn't be suprised if not all of the play testers/elders made it either - Although it is pretty hard to ignore the numbers - of the 15 Elders 8 are already members of the hall, You nominanted 4 of them yourself this year, You're the 13th, and the other two are quite young comparativily speaking. In fact I'd say of all the Elders/Playtesters, Jordan and I are perhaps the least likely to get in.
