Game Informer? WoW I get, Diablo II I get, I don't agree but I get, however Game Informer Magazine? Not the highest quality of literature I'll have you but evil?
I used to get Game Informer in print form, but then they switched to all digital. Now my Parental Control blocks it.
At one point in time the campus wide parental controls at Roberts Wesleyan College blocked this website
Did they have the pink and blue sidewalks like Bob Jones University?
No but they do have segregated dorms with ridiculously strict open hours rules. That combined with a few other things contributed to my only staying there one semester.
Well this pretty much instantly went off topic.
When discussions like this arise, I think it is important to remember the advice that the Bible already provides on this topic in the form of meat sacrificed to idols. This meat was cheaper, but some Christians were hesitant to eat it. They saw the idols it was sacrificed to, not just sustenance. They argued with brothers who said it was only meat, and not to throw it away, as the idols held no actual power. However, we are counseled not to encourage our brother to partake in something that goes against his conscience. If someone sees evil behind meat sacrificed to idols (or in a game magazine that promotes evil games, regardless of the rest of the entertainment it provides), then it is not something for that person to partake in. It is not that they are weak, but that they are unable to see past the evil acts behind the object, despite their lack of true power. While I enjoy Harry Potter, my mother is vehemently opposed to it, and feels it is very evil. I will not argue with her on this, and I respect what it means to her. In the same way, I feel that Game Informer has a lot of entertainment value, but that it does indeed promote things that are better left un-played. Therefore, I will not argue with anyone that this is evil or not, either.Summary: If your brother feels something pushes him away from the Path, then it is not for him, and it should not be encouraged. That boundary should be respected.
I disagree with you on quite a few things (namely, Pokemon, Harry Potter [at least, the books, the movies are quite dark], heavy music, and demonic/pagan symbols), but it's good to see you get rid of so many things that held you for so long.Quote from: lp670sv on March 31, 2012, 11:33:30 PMGame Informer? Game Informer promotes WoW, Diablo, etc. and those games probably include symbols he doesn't want in his house, which are probably shown in pictures in the magazine.EDIT: Instaposted by Pol, but he said it much, much better.
Well this pretty much instantly went off topic.Matrix, I admire your courage in sharing this with us. While I disagree with a lot of your points on theological and intellectual bases, your re-dedication and the personal conviction it brought with it are cause for joy!
