Then I think a good solution would be to promote a couple of the best mods (like I would say you) to have that authority. Not all, but perhaps a couple, like you, prof, and maybe a couple others.

If it's true moderators can't at least warn, I question why we even bother to give them the power to moderate. If I swear in a topic, it probably deserves a warn and a delete at least, so why can't the same person do both?

So basically, anyone who is just a moderator basically gets a fancy title? I agree with Alex, that's pretty much pointless.

Yeah the mods used to be a lot more strict. Colin got banned for things I honestly don't think were as bad as what some members say, xcalebx got moderated over 9000 times, and members like Red and Musician and The Warrior constantly got warned. I haven't even seen a warning in months.
I've never been warned. Ever.

Now listen here, boy.  If I ever catch you making sweeping statements like that, you'll be in big trouble.

See?  Mods can warn people.

As a general rule mere mods don't have the power to Warn/Moderate/Ban. If we did I think you'd see a lot more of that going around
I don't know that we'd really see much more of that sort of thing.  It is EXTREMELY rare for me to feel like someone needs to be W/M/B'd.  It has been my experience that almost all the time it is sufficient to edit a post if there's an isolated problem, remove a few posts if a thread devolves into personal attack, or lock a thread if it has derailed completely.

The forum members seem to get the idea of what the expectations are here and are generally supportive and choose to follow them.  They just need a reminder now and then.  Really I enjoy this forum very much and highly value the relationships that I have built here over the years.

Right. Absolutely no consequences whatsoever. I mentioned this to someone else, but honestly, aside from doing something blatantly unchristian, there's absolutely no reason NOT to spam or challenge the mods for the sole reason of challenging them. If there's no consequence as long as I don't do anything "too bad", then why shouldn't I do it?

Well this IS supposed to be a Christian forum, and most (not all) of the people who frequent here are Christians.  Therefore, much of the forum etiquette is hopefully a natural outgrowth of the people here being brothers and sisters in the Lord.  Therefore, people generally are respectful of each other and respond out of grace and love.

And as for spam, I think that most people won't spend a lot of time writing spammy posts if they know that the thread will get locked/deleted shortly anyway.  It just makes it a waste of their time.  I remember a few years ago there was a specific forum member who had a habit of deleting their own threads whenever they got a bit derailed (which happened a lot).  I got tired of putting a lot of thought into posts on that person's thread just to see them disappear, so I personally chose to not post on threads that they started.  This seems to be a similar type of situation.

This is the only message board on the internet that I can legally claim discrimination if I ever get warned or banned. Not that I've ever been warned, or would bother claiming discrimination, but it's nice to have that option for once I guess.

That aside, I really think this board is a good idea if for no other reason then I'm tired of a new hoke thread popping up every month and being deleted within 2 weeks.

*sigh* the pain and suffering my stressful job as mod of Official Tournaments has caused me to go prematurely grey.  As an authority, I'm never allowed to play with the cool kids because they're worried I'll tattle.  Enjoy your youth while you can, Alex.
At least you have posts in your section. Other than Sauce's TEAMS troll thread, I haven't had anything to even review for potential spam.

Seriously people, make teams decks. It's fun.

I agree that a FUN board would be a good solution to the aversion to SPAM us mods have. Will unlock when I have a response...

UPDATE: Still discussing with mods and globals. The question is whether or not it would fix the spam problem or feed it.
