Metal, rock, dubstep, christian, secular, etc etc. Thoughts?

I personally like bands like A7X, DH, 5FDP, TDG, BB, B4MV...

You know, anywhere from rock to hardcore screamo.

I pretty much side with Christian hardcore.

Getting to the shoutboard discussion...
I define "Christian" as those who are on a Christian label (Solid State, Fearless), or feature positive lyrics that emulate a Christian perspective. Even if a band states that they are not a Christian band, as long as I can mistake them for a Christian band, I consider them Christian, since bands sometimes don't want the label of a Christian band (since they define it differently), but still are Christians and promote that theme. Unless of course they claim to be something else and have trashy music videos...Crimson Armada...

I define hardcore as screaming music that does not use Autotune and isn't Djent. If something has clean vocals, it can still be hardcore, so long as there is more focus on the screaming vocals.

Sadly, youtube isn't working right now, but here's my case for Christian hardcore's superiority.

August Burns Red (White Washed, Internal Canon, etc. All around master musicians within hardcore music)
In the Midst of Lions (The Call, Defiance, etc. Master guitarists who can do weird stuff and make it sound fantastic)
Oh, Sleeper (Children of Fire, Son of the Morning, etc. More stereotypical, but they have talent and Micah's fry is phenomenal)
Haste the Day (The Place Where Most Deny, Travesty, etc. Pretty good all around. On par with most secular bands)
MyChildren, MyBride (Terra Firma, King of the Hopeless, etc. Straight up brutal.)

And many others.

Also, this should be in Entertainment.

In my case, I don't listen to Christian music much. I just enjoy several Steven Curtic Chapman CD's. I mostly listen to old school 70/80 pop/rock and a little more modern prog rock/ metal so it's not like I am listen to truly foul things.

However, it has been my noticing that many do not prefer Christian music because it doesnt protray the depth of human emotion and ends up really optomistic.

For Example:
Secular music- "My boyfriend cheated on me, I'm angry hurt and saddened. Im going to slash his tires"
Christian music- "My boyfriend cheated on me, I'm angry hurt and saddened. It must have been God's will and I still have him to trust in"

One is far more realistic, one is far more entertaining. I recognize that these are not always the case but its a perspective

Since you said you listen to BTBAM, do you know any comparably good Christian bands with a similar sound?

Similar sound is hard to determine, but here goes:

Living Sacrifice - Overkill Exposure [Official Video]

Additionally, if you're arguing secular versus Christian, you shouldn't present bands that are similar to one another. Most people will just say they're a rip off band.

This sounds more like As I Lay Dying / Killswitch Engage

It's also too short to be compared to BTBAM. needs to be more like 10 minutes.  ;D

You're just biased against all bands that don't have the Dream Theater influence of insanely long songs.

The screamer sounds similar in my mind, but that could just be because I don't listen to either band that much. The guitars, not so much. Again, copy bands are lame.

Find a secular band that does something as awesome and strange as this:

In the Midst of Lions The Call (NEW SONG 2011) HD! LYRICS!

I hope you understand that dubstep is nothing like metal.  Hardstyle, maybe....

Rap, hip-hop, club music. Then on the other side of the spectrum: Alternative, contemporary, soft rock.

I believe my most played artists in the past week or so has been:

- Jason Mraz
- Eminem
- Mac Miller
- Michael Buble (his new Christmas album is AMAZING)
- T-Pain
- Big Sean
- Childish Gambino
- The Fray (my favorite band, hands down)

Judge as you wish. At least I'm honest enough to admit what music I listen to. Also, number one band goes to
Booster Draft king once upon a time.

I enjoy most genres except country.  :P

My top 5 songs this week:
1. Zapflap - Falling
Pretty good techno.
2. Owl City - If My Heart Was a House
I've known about Adam Young since the beginning. I had his CD's before Ocean Eyes came out.
3. Beatles - HELP!
Beatles are awesome.
4. Sons of Levi - Torn the Veil
Band originated from my high school, Christian metalcore
5. Freestylers - Cracks
Really good dubstep remix.
Retired?

I know, someone mentioned it in the shoutbox, so i thought if they wanted to discuss it here, they could feel free. This is not a thread just for metal, or discussing christian against secular music. It is a thread just to discuss music in itself, and let people feel free to discuss whatever they wish on the topic at hand.

On another note: has anyone ever heard of "A silver mt. Zion"? I will be the happiest man alive if someone has. If you want to listen to just straight up creepy music, look up "Sow Some Lonesome Corner So Many Flowers Bloom" by A silver Mt. Zion. Simply amazing.

Full Metal Jacket - Thee Silver Mt. Zion - Sow Some Lonesome Corner So Many Flowers Bloom

by the way, the real song is like 10 minutes longer lol.

Yeah, but this thread is for discussing dubstep, too.

EDIT: Judging by the upvotes this is getting, are there no other dubstep fans? :(. Here's an awesome dubstep song to change your mind:

Yes, that is one place that it CAN go, but not that only place that it is allowed to be. This is a non-redemption topic, therefore making it "off-topic"

I agree with lp. The point of this thread is to discuss dubstep, not decide where the thread goes. Deciding where the thread goes in this thread misses the point. And it's too meta for my tastes.
