I recently received a PM from a board member about marketing; but more specifically, e-mail marketing. It got my brain working and I came up with an idea. I would like to ask for some of your time in the next month or so. In that time, I would like for you to compile a list of churches in your area along with a name and e-mail address for either their Youth Pastor/Minister or their Pastor/Minister. This would involve some Google Map searches (or something of the sort) and setting your proximity limits. How far out you want to go is up to you, but I would like you to claim your area on this thread so that we don't have any duplicating of efforts. I will keep a running list of who is working on what area on this post for ease of reference. You can actually send me a PM with the data but it needs to be formatted exactly as my example below without any unnecessary punctuation but with correct capitalization and spelling:

Church Name, Person's Name, E-mail Address
Church Name, Person's Name, E-mail Address
Church Name, Person's Name, E-mail Address

If you are willing to do this in your area, please respond to this thread with the area you will be targeting. If you have any questions for me, please feel free to post them here or send me a PM. The goal of this is for me to send out e-mails to churches and people who have either not heard of Redemption or to connect with those that have but are not currently connected to the Redemption Community. We are starting where you are because I know you want more people to play with in your area...right?

In exchange for your help I will be offering a sweet bonus per open I get on the addresses you supply me (please do not give me e-mail addresses of people you already know in order to up your open rate...thanks). For every 5 e-mails that I send out to the addresses you give me that are opened, I will give you a free Booster Pack from among the "$3 packs". For every contact that I make that turns into a sale, I will give you a free "$5 box pack" of your choosing. There is great potential to get some free product and to do some amazing grass roots marketing for Redemption.

ARE YOU IN!?!

I don't know very much about Redemption anymore but why would anyone market via email in 2016?  You should be marketing on social media.
May you prosper greatly!

I'm in Gainesville, Florida, and was interested in promoting, and possibly being a re-seller of, Redemption to local churches, Univ. of Florida and Santa Fe College campuses, etc., as there are no retail sellers of Redemption around here anymore.  Contact me and we'll work on getting the word out.

Based on the size of my Junk Folder, email marketing is alive and well in 2016.  ;)

You should be marketing on social media.

Social Media marketing is fine for drawing people to you, but not as effective for reaching out to specific groups. Most social media pages have filters that prevent marketing from appearing on their page (i.e. all posts need to be approved by an administrator who may not even be a pastor). You stand a far better chance of directly contacting a youth pastor by email than by social media, unless you are in their network.

I talked to the youth pastor at our church and he did not seem very interested.  Good luck with this project.
do not think of yourself more highly than you ought but rather think of yourself with sober judgment

we need everyone to compile a list or if they already have a list even better of churches and leaders who they could see implementing Redemption as a Biblical resource

strategically having the resources ready along with a list of people to send it to who may be interested is of benefit

The things I have seen as a benefit to my youth ministry from Redemption that may be helpful to pass along:

#1 Obviously fellowship is the biggest benefit. When people gather around a table to play a game, they will inevitably get to know each other better.

#2 It is an outreach to the gamers (very often outsiders) in our ministry, especially those who play any of the half dozen CCG's that are popular at any given time. It has not been the entirety of my ministry, but a small portion (20% at most) intentionally reaching gamers.

#3 Being exposed to many of the themes and stories in the Bible that we may not have any exposure or may have limited exposure to. Giving a way to recall obscure people, places, and things have helped with recall and sometimes comprehension of the text in general.

#4 Having a way to naturally be in a local game store and find opportunities to serve there. This is how I ended up owning a game store for a while, but apart from that, I was able to build solid relationships there with people I would not have otherwise.

#5 Giving a platform for discipleship to happen. This is the one I did not foresee at all. When I had guys that had been playing for a while, they would end up taking new players under their wings and showing them how to play, deck build, etc. That translated into actual discipleship as well with those students.

#6 It is a fun hobby that I have had varying levels of involvement with. I can sit down when everyone else in the house is in bed and fiddle with the cards; sorting and deck building. It is a great way to do something mindless (which I have found greatly beneficial in ministry) to unwind.

#7 I look forward to passing on the game to my kids. I know many families who play Redemption as a family. They go to tournaments together, compete with one another, and collect together. It could even prove to be a great way to give kids incentives to doing certain chores (if that's how you do things).

Those are just what I could think off the top of my head. Not sure if that will be useful at all but thought I would share.

UPDATE: dermo4christ has submitted 142 e-mail addresses of which only 6 have bounced. Please pray that the 136 messages send to Lancaster and Adams counties find their way to someone who will respond and get involved with Redemption in one fashion or another. I will let you know how many responses we have in a week or so.

CHALLENGE: So far only one person has taken me up on the offer. Please, if you have time, do some leg work in your area and put a list of e-mails together. It has the possibility of helping Redemption grow in your own back yard. Everyone wants more people to play with, right?
