Well today I decided to waltz in a tourney with a deck that used only Apostles cards and older (It used to be Warriors and older but I thought using Goys would make it a billion times more competitive.) I did this because I was too lazy to make anouther deck. I was expecting to go about 1 and 4 but in the end get some mass lawls. Well by the end of the tourney I had gotten Third in type 1 2 player and was about 5 and 1. I got more then my moneys worth of mass lawls from that tourney. Btw it was a Red/Purple and Grey/Black deck. Old school fun right there 8)

Today at a playgroup meeting we played a few games. I proceded to slaughter Bryon 5-2 in the first game and got 2nd in a multiplayer game though I was going to get SOG next turn and had NJ in my hand. All in a good days work. I may add Pats cards to the deck to make it unstopable! lol....

Oh, now you're just talking crazy.

You call that Retro??? Come visit a NJ game and watch Justin and me play REAL old school...as in, back to the Redemption Players Guide. Very quick games, and cards that are useless now suddenly become fairly powerful. (And AoC=AoCP in these games!)

I would love to! The only problem is down here people want to actualy win games ): So ill have to stick with all these fancy sets. Though I am working on a Originals deck 8)

Yeah I typically try to prove that you CAN win with things people don't consider useful... not try to make decks around weird themes. Like could a deck that relied ONLY on A-bom for offense and some defense win games? It did (although the original idea, though not the deck, was Gabe Isbell's idea) Can you still use TGT with equal or greater success? We'll see. ;)

For the genuine hard-core Retro players (i.e., nothing past Prophets), we're hoping to run a Retro Type 1 2-player and Retro booster draft sometime this summer.
Yes, I said Retro booster draft. It's our one concession to modernity, because it's so dang fun! You get three blue and three green boosters, and draft from there. Add enough generic LSs to get to 7, and you probably have your deck complete. Then it's off to a land where Isaiah rules, Devotion of Ruth is a stopper, and multi-player games never come close to timing out. And a 10/10 EC sends shivers down your spine.
So anyone around central NJ, get ready to Retro rumble this summer!

I've been playing with primarily warriors cards for the past 4 years. on and off. never complete though, because Mayhem is just too much fun. awesome job though!

I remember back in the day when Red Dragon, Abaddon, Goliath, Beast from the Sea and Beast from the Earth ruled the day. I guess that is a retro standalone defense.

i use a older strategy my older deck

Or my favorite:
Example: Put two copies of a card like The False Prophet in your deck (legal, as it has no special abilities). Set one aside with Molech Worship. Then put the second copy in play (also legal under Retro rules, since we play according to the RPG and cards set aside are not in play). When the in play copy is defeated, bring back your now jacked-up copy to take its place.
This is probably why the rule was changed so that cards set aside count against your duplicates controlled.
Even without that, thanks to no SAs there's nothing like Justin pulling out three Goliaths in a row as you defeat them...
