Leaving Redemption

To all,

I want to thank the better part of this community for allowing me to grow spiritually through trial with this game.  I appreciate the wisdom that many of you have shown me about life in general and the fellowship with the majority of you has been exemplary.  However, despite this I am leaving the redemption community.  I have prayed, considered, yearned for understanding and this is the decision that the Lord has brought me to.  The majority of my decision was based on no one in particular, but an apparent lack of respect shown to a "Opponent" considering the rules of the game vs. fellowship and fun.  I understood this game to be more about fellowship and not so much about "winning" and have seen through experience (tournaments, online play, pick up games) this to be otherwise.  I'm dissapointed to share this with the majority of the community of Redemption that seem to have a grasp on the character/spirit of the game.  But my decision has come through prayer, supplication to the Lord, and a peace that I have with this decision.  Other factors have made an impact on my decision, such as the amount of time/money/devotion I place into collecting, playing and discussing the game in relation to priorities that are more important (biblicaly and personally).  I mean no disrespect to the game/players/creator/community, as I am confident that our Creator has people placed in unique situations to augment his plan through Redmeption and by no means do I mean to displace or interrupt them.  I ask forgiveness for any feelings that I may have hurt during my short tenure in this game and ask that you release to God any pain or bitterness you hold against me.  Thank you all for the good times, and may God Bless you as you continue to follow and walk in Him.

Ask not what your CCG can do for you... If you want fun and fellowship to be the spirit of the game, you have to contribute it. What it all boils down to is not what the rules of the game are, but how you play it. If you play it with an attitude directed towards fun and fellowship, then it doesn't matter whether the object of the game is to chase down your opponent, tackle him, and clonk him over the head.

But if God is calling you elsewhere, then you must follow. Just make sure it's God's voice and not you throwing your own in the direction you wish to go.

I am sorry to see anyone leave this game, but I wish you well.  I will pray for God's best for you.  FWIW I encourage my players all the time to remember why we play, and I encourage them in their losses and wins to strive for sportsmanlike conduct.  If we do not play a Christian game like Christians, what is the point?  God Bless! :)

Josh, I'm very sorry to hear that.  I really enjoyed the few games I played with you.  You're a great sport and a strong Christian, not to mention an excellent player.  I definitely agree that fellowship should be the focus of Redemption players.  While I sometimes struggle with being too competitive, in my online games I have made an effort to keep my focus on enjoying the time spent with fellow brothers in Christ.  Thank you for being one!

Godbless!  Always go where the Lord leads you.

Wooow. I am shocked that you are leaving the game. But anyways, I am happy that you came to a decision that you are happy with. I just hope that you are sure that this is the decision that you want. I am not saying this because you are an awesome contribution to the community. I just hope that God blesses you with your future endevours. Thanks for everything.  :)

this is what happens to me when I beat Wanderer...

Sorry to hear that, Josh. I enjoyed seeing you at the T2 tournament, although we never got to play. I'm sure you'll be missed on the boards and at tournaments.

You need to come down to Florida to play. One tournament with Josh Kopp and you will find the fun & fellowship you were expecting.  ;D

God speed on the path He leads you.

True that.

My son and I still talk about the games of Family Business we played with Josh and Slug Fencer at Nats in Columbus.

That just goes to show a dose of Josh Kopp can make any game more fun.

WHAT? Cutthroat Caverns is better than Family Business. if you were trying to say that RR can make even that game more fun...I could see it going either way.

I am saying that you cannot name a game that would not be more fun with Josh Kopp participating than it would be without him.

Why the board didn't process your lamejoke tag? I try to use at least one lamejoke in most of my posts and the tags never show up like that for me.
