Job 36:32
He fills his hands with lightning and commands it to strike its mark

You know...now there will be a "second coming" of Jesus near Monroe, OH.  ::)

Seriously, I am glad it got struck and hope it never gets rebuilt.  It was gaudy, and had no real meaning.  I am fine with statues of Jesus that have meaning or historical significance, but just to simply have the "largest statue of Jesus in america is a foolish waste of money.

I suppose it means that when you build a flammable statue with a metal skeleton, you should kind of expect that to happen.

Clearly the church needs to review the ten commandments, especially if people were crying over the statue's destruction.

According to one of the pastors, it will come back "Bigger and Better" than before (read: fireproof)

Also on a local radio show, Darlene Bishop (the wife part of the husband and wife pastor team) stated that this was a blessing because it gave them more exposure than if they had spent a million dollars in advertizing...

Because that's what Jesus instructed of His disciples: go out and give yourselves exposure!  Advertise!

I have been aware of these guys long before the Touchdown Jesus and I have never felt well about their intentions.

Neu said there were lightning resistors and grounding rods in place around the statue and amphitheater, but they failed to divert the bolt.
How many other buildings get struck by lighting and burned to the ground when they have lighting rods? Not many
