Without getting into a debate about why my post was removed from the "What's Hot?" thread, I would like to say that there is a reason I have made my thoughts about my wife clear all the years I have been on these boards. Too often young men only hear the negatives about wives from older men... the stereotypical ball-n-chain comments. I have tried to be an example of someone who thinks very highly of his wife of 19 years. It is also worth noting that announcing my affection for my wife, especially when I have female coworkers, is part of secret protect/prevent initiative.

So for those who truly find my comments about my wife offensive, I apologize. My wife finds them quite humorous, and probably also reassuring. A wife of 19 years who has had three children and greying hair tends to think of herself as not as attractive. I want my wife to know that she is still the woman of my dreams.... I didn't realize that this would be so heinous to some of you. It is really more of habit than anything else.

I will refrain from such comments on this Message Board in the future.

I have no issue with you or your comments. You just made a great post for this topic. I do have issues with double standards. I apologize if I came across as attacking you. I was simply disputing the legitimacy of the post in light of a previous post by another member that had been deleted. Seeing as their is no real rule set (as you have decried before) I was question the judgement call that was being mde by allowing some posts in a vein to stay and others to go.

However, if you put so much great thought into your posts, I'd suggest you be less silly in some of them. I don't think it's too much to generally assume your posts are jokes and unserious, seeing as the vast majority are like that. I don't doubt you think deeply about your posts. I just suggest I would be unlikely to give you that benefit of the doubt when your posts are typically in the humorous realm.

Again, I want to reiterate that I support what you have said in this topic - I think you have posted some great thoughts that younger men can learn from.

Actually I wasn't directing this at you. I was not aware of any other posts after mine, except crustpope who had said he knew I would say something about my wife. So whatever else happened I missed. I just came online to see my post deleted and assumed that someone had reported it. I don't want to be offensive.

Hey YMT, I often enjoy your jokes, but I didn't feel Strategies and Combos was the right place for it, especially because Chris tried a joke earlier with "Emma Stone" and that was deleted. It would be a double standard (I think), and that's something we don't want.

So, no, not offended at all, I just didn't think it was the place for it.

Funny you should mention that.... my daughter was in the Post Office with my wife, when the person behind them in line starting talking to my daughter. My beautiful 4-year-old then proudly exclaimed, "My daddy thinks my mom is hot." This was met with much laughter in the entire room, or so says my wife.

I agree that there would have been a double-standard, then. I was not aware of Chris' post, or that it had been deleted. I would not have even posted if I had known, since that would have been inappropriate.

For what it's worth, I didn't have any problems with your post, YMT, and wouldn't have had an issue if yours had remained and mine had been deleted. My post with "Emma Stone" was deleted perhaps five minutes after posting it, and while I was a bit surprised at the quick timing, the action itself didn't surprise me so much. "My wife is hot" is an ongoing joke with you, and I believe has entirely pure motives behind it, whereas my post could have been misconstrued for lust (or whatever else), since the odds of Emma Stone becoming my wife are, sadly, quite low.

Apparently this was a case of my own misunderstanding. I thought my post was deleted for being offensive to someone, but in fact it was just a Moderator trying to be fair. Although I appreciate Chris' support of my wife-posts, I agree with the Moderator's decision to remove my post in that thread. Since there does not seem to be any dissent, I will continue to remind y'all of my wife's hotness in the future.

Chris, I have no idea who Emma Stone is, but rather than Google her name to find out, I will just ogle my wife instead. 

FYI, my wife is so hot that just looking at a picture of her melts my heart
