I don't think it will top the original, but I still expect great things. Trailer looks pretty good.

All movie news agencies say 2011.  It's probably going to stay that way even though Transformers 3 is now slated for Summer 2011.  The producers will avoid releasing too close to Trans3.  I don't know how they can do that since they want to release Thor in May and Avengers in July.  That would have Avengers competing against Transformers.  After Thor, the franchise may reach a saturation point and Avengers' box office numbers could suffer.  And we know Transformers 3 will rake in the movie-goers.  That likely means Avengers will get moved out to 2012.

Even though they really want Thor before Avengers AND they want Favreau to direct, they could always move it up to Summer 2010!  We already know that most of the CGI is already complete for most of these type of movies.  THey just need to add the real actor stuff!   :D

Here are the dates I'm hearing:

Iron Man 2 - May 7 '10
Thor - June 17 '11
*Transformers 3 - July 1 '11
The First Avenger: Captain America - July 22 '11
The Avengers - May 4 '12

*Although a bunch of sources are claiming Trans3 in preproduction, no writers have even been tapped to write a spec script (the previous writers are moving on), and Bay still wants to take a year off before directing the third film.  I'm guessing it'll be pushed back.

Odd. It was Bay who corrected someone else and said it was going to be a year earlier than anticipated.  Oh well, that's Hollywood!   :D

Of course, in that whole mix will be Spiderman 4 and another X-Men.  All I know, it’s gonna be a good time to be a nerd for years to come.   :)

Oh, then perhaps I got confused and somebody with X-men said they wanted to take a year off.  I was so sure it was a Transformers person, though, but the two films did come out pretty close together...
