How love feels like to you?

To me it feels like an endless amount of hope and I don’t need to question. Now with that said I have changed my views on what love is many times and chances are they will change again at some point.
What is your opinion? Please share…..

Love actually doesn't usually "feel" like anything to me.  Occasionally, love "feels" euphoric, and occasionally, love "hurts".  But most of the time my love is more rational.  It is a desire to bring about what is best for another person.  I suppose the most common "feeling" that I associate with love is a longing for them when they are absent.

i think the best way to sum up love is sacrifice.

Love is...

... giving up the biggest piece of cake to someone else.
... letting someone else have the end of the loaf of bread even though that's the best part.
... letting someone else go before you in line, even though that would be the last person allowed in.
... opening a door for someone that you are not trying to impress.
... losing when you really could have won.
... learning to do something that you really don't want to do because someone else wants to do it.
... admitting you were wrong to keep the peace, even when you weren't wrong.
... forgiving someone that doesn't deserve forgiveness.
... being nice to a Yankees fan.

Sacrifice is just a result of the true manifestation of love, which is placing someone's needs higher than your own.

You know, this may sound sad, but I honestly don't think I know what love feels like. I have studied love, and I'd like to be able to say that I have felt it, but really it seems like something that when you feel it, you KNOW. So I guess I'll just keep looking...

I disagree. Lust is something that you just KNOW, but love takes hard work and committment. The rewards are innumerable and you will have no regrets, but if you trust your feelings to find you love, then you will either be disappointed or you will truly hurt someone else (or both).

That would be lust.  ;)

Love would be eating spinach, so that someone else could eat the Spaghetti-o's.

I agreed with the rest of the list, but not these 2.  The first seems patronizing, and the second seems like lying.

You know, this may sound sad, but I honestly don't think I know what love feels like.
Actually I didn't learn what love felt like until I was in college.  I dated before that, but only felt "like".  I treated people with respect and love, but I couldn't recognize the feeling until college.

On a related note, I didn't really know what hunger felt like until I participated in a 40-hour famine in college.  I had thought I was hungry millions of times before that, but I didn't actually know that there was that specific feeling you get in your stomach until then.

... losing when you really could have won.

Christ could have conquered the Romans and not died on the cross. He could have won the earthly battle, but He chose not to, so He could win the heavenly battle. Likewise, I can chose not to win an earthly battle, so that I can win a more enduring battle.

... admitting you were wrong to keep the peace, even when you weren't wrong.

When faced with an opposition who refuses to believe that they were wrong, the end result can either be conflict or peace. The Bible says to not let the sun go down on your anger. Besides, how many times was I the one who was wrong, and yet my loved ones just let it go. You can perceive it however you want, but to continue in war when peace is readily available seems like a foolish option, rather than a loving one.

When Jesus says to love your neighbors like yourself does that mean people around the world that you cannot know? When I look at starving children or random people I care for them , but not very much. How can you love them like yourself? The reality is I wouldn't risk my life for some random person I don't even know or love them as much as my family etc... I don't think you can love everyone.

Maybe human love does, but God's love is something we cannot earn by performing earthly tasks, no matter how much physical suffering we endure. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." - Ephesians 2:8 (NIV)

The title of the thread was about how love feels to me, which would be human love. I don't disagree with the verse about God's Love.

The reality is I wouldn't risk my life for some random person I don't even know or love them as much as my family etc....

Hopefully being a fireman or law enforcement officer is not one of your future plans.  ;)

I'll hopefully be an EMT in the future, because I want to spread God's love to those who really need it.

I believe that today's (Western) culture does not really understand what love is.  You guys seem to have  a much greater handle on it.
For me, part of love is a willingness to put another's needs/wants above your own.  It is NOT an ooey-gooey feeling.  That's lust.

More later.

We can't. God through us CAN.

Except for the admitting you're wrong thing (I just drop the subject. Like it says in Proverbs 17:14 (New International Version)

 14 Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam;
so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.)
I am with My math teacher. It takes a lot of work to keep a relationship going.

That's more or less what I meant. Perhaps "willing to be wrong" would be better?
