-Piano for fourteen years. Classical piano from six to ten, after which most of what I did was singer/songwriter stuff. My keyboard is currently broken, but I'm trying to fix it or purchase a new one. Because of that I typically practice on campus.
-Singer/Songwriting for fourteen years. The first song I wrote (at age six or so) was called "Lightning Never Strikes Twice". It was a pretty catchy song.
-Two and a half octave vocal range. My vocal influences include Ryan Adams, Leslie Feist, Jeff Buckley, Paul McCartney, Elton John, and Robert Plant
-Guitar for ten years. Electric, acoustic, and some classical. I currently own Yamaha and Arrianna acoustics, a pre-Gibson Epiphone Casino (the same guitar John Lennon used), and a Gibson Epiphone stratocaster (very rare).
-Bass for eight years. I have a Fender Squire P-Bass.
-Drums for three years. There's a drum kit in my garage but it's not mine. Not sure of the brand.
-I was into the whole screamo thing from freshman year to junior year. Now, if I scream, I use a more rock n' roll, Beatles scream. I guess that counts as five or six years of throat.
-Mandolin for a year. Don't own one, usually borrow or play when I'm at Gibson Showcase.
-Banjo for a year. Again, don't own one.
-Ukulele I've probably possessed the ability to play for ten years, but officially is a negligible amount of time playing (it's basically the same as guitar). My grandpa has one, but I don't currently own one.
-Dobro (or Resonance guitar) I probably first picked up a year or two ago. It's basically the same thing as a guitar but it's used for sliding. Usually play these at Gibson Showcase.
-Steel guitar I picked up a year or two ago as well. Gibson Showcase.
-Violin and Saxophone I started messing around with last year but haven't actually learned traditionally yet; that's next. I don't own a violin but I usually play my cousin's sax.
-I really want to learn table steel more than anything but they're really expensive.
I also possess the ability to create electronica and use synthesizers. I have several synthesizers and MIDI keyboards.
-Might as well mention that I'm in a band, The Troubadours,
http://www.myspace.com/troubadourmusic. I play guitar, sing lead, and write about half the songs (while Daniel Huisinga (or Polarius, as he's known around here) writes the other half).
