there is a ten pound wood bucket, you must fill it halfway up with something to make it weigh half as much (five pounds), what do you fill it up with?
Fire.
oooh, yeah, I didn't understand the question. I was thinking something that weighs half as much...

acid.

the problem is, in all of these cases, it ceases to be a bucket.

What item do you sleep on, eat on and sit on?
The floor?

Move it to a planet that has half the mass of earth.  (i.e. fill it with ROCKETS!)

The physics of that are interesting.  It would take a lot of Hydrogen (though Helium would be the better option, unless we're filling it with fire) to reduce the weight by half.

What can you microwave, put in the oven, toast, boil, or grill, and it all tastes the same?

bread

Not true. Microwaved bread is weird....

Cheese? Though sometimes it smells different......
I'm sorry I crammed 11 cookies in the VCR.

Grilled cheese would end up weird, if done on an actual grill, not cheese fried between two pieces of bread

First of all, I'm pretty sure Hydrogen is lighter than helium, and second of all, the ability of a ten pound bucket to be reduced to five pounds depends much on how much space is inside.

>:c. My answer was more clever.

Okay, new riddle: There is a ten pound wooden bucket like object. You must fill it halfway up with something to make it weigh half as much (five pounds), what do you fill it up with?

Hydrogen is flammable, and that would send our whole experiment out the window.  See: Hindenburg

Actually it was more the paint than the hydrogen.
