I hear the Eagles might get Michael Vick, I sure hope so.

He never really killed any dogs, IMO. He was merely consulting them on end of life issues.

1. Elway isn't top 5. Ain't no way. Montana, Marino, Starr, Staubach, Bradshaw, Favre, and maybe Manning and Brady, are all above him.

2. Justin works for the IRS doesn't he? So, he is in government/politics.

Funny, Elway made both of these lists here and here. He also made this list

I think it is difficult based on statistics alone not to put him into the top 5 all time. Plus he has 2 rings, he also played in multiple superbowls, he has "the Drive" and some of the best scrambling stats for a quarterback. Elway played with heart that cannot be measured in statistics and he Made things happen when he had to.

His rings were in the twilight of a career of failure. By the time he got there, he practically just had to manage the game. The fact remains he could not win super bowls in his prime when he was the star. Coupled with the poor statistics (in comparison to others), he's not top 5.

I also wouldn't put Elway in the top 5 ever. Denver's greatness rests on their running backs, not on their quarterback. One good "drive" doesn't make someone the best ever.

If that were the case then Roethlisberger would be one of the greatest QB's ever. He is constantly leading great game ending drives (the whole drive leading up to winning superbowl XLIII comes to mind). He also has two superbowl rings...but currently unless you are crazy he would never make a top QB of all times list. Oh he is a great scrambler too...I love the guy and he is only a little shy of elway IMO but neither make top 5. Of QB's now however...1. Brady 2. Manning 3. Brees 4. Roethlisberger 5. Rivers

But he's not a close runner up. Considering how he played in a system that threw more than passed (out of necessity somewhat), his stats aren't that great. In my opinion, Favre isn't Top 5 either, so it's not just Elway that I drop.

Times being sacked is bad not good. He gets sacked a lot. That's terrible.

Well Duh! Do you really think I am that dumb? So if I am not that dumb, why would I post that Stat? hmmm. It tells me that he did all this impresive body of work behind a somewhat suspect offensive line for most of his career. (later superbowl seasons excepted of course). That stat makes his work all the more impressive

Similar to the idea that if Barry Sanders had played for almost ANY other team, we would have a different leader atop the board at Running back.

The fact that he got sacked that much and STILL maintained those stats is indeed impressive. I can't believe Peyton Manning is already in the top 5 QB's with the most career TD passes. That is amazing!

Why? Sure, he was great at what he was. But what he was was a gunslinger. He reguarly threw 15+ INTs and had circa 10 fumbles. His completion percentage was a pedestrian 61.6 career avg. I just don't see that being so great. Manning has already passed him easily, Brady probably has passed him, and people like Marino, Unitas, Tarkenton, and Montana are ahead of him.

And last year and most likely this year are gonna kill him. He threw 22 INT's last year. I bet he throws 22 just against the Steelers this year!

Not his brightest moment to be sure, but Favre is one of the toughest guys to ever play the game and never shies away from doing something to help the team. He's thrown blocks for running backs his entire career, He just needs to learn how to throw a proper backside block.
