wow, ridiculous.  He is dragging his great legacy through the mud.  I think he is just playing to keep racking up TD's and yards to hold Peyton off one more year.

But with Manning it is inevitable.  It is only a matter of time barring serious injury that he will own all of Favre's records.....that is except the # of interceptions thrown by a QB.

Nah, its not the TD's record he's working on, he just wants to become the first QB to beat all 32 NFL teams ;) Two years ago he became the third QB to beat 31 NFL teams, the week after Brady and Manning did it, now he wants to beat them to all 32.

Wow... I thought he made the official decision NOT to play...

He only made an official decision not to play to get out of the first few weeks of training camp. Favre's entire "I'm thinking about retiring schtick" dates back to when the NFL first allowed teams to start holding mandatory mini-camps.

Favre just doesn't want to do the work involved with training camp and live in dorms. Let's not pretend like we are surprised he came back.

It will be an interesting development there in MN.  So I have questions:

1) Will they tear the roof off the Metrodome so Brett can play on the frozen tundra again?

2) Does AP's fantasy stock go up or down?  I can't tell yet.

3) Will Berrian's and Shiancoe's stock go up?

4) There's just something about this that makes me wonder: will Mary start dating Brett again?   :P

1. No. It makes it better for his body being on astroturf.
2. Up. They have a legit passing game so teams can't stack 7 in the box.
3. Up. THere is a legit play action fake. Shiancoe will be a red zone beast.
4. I can't respond, that's an R rated movie, and not allowed in the forums.

Metrodome surface is actually better than astroturf now, it's a softer, fake grass surface.

AP can handle 7 in the box...it was the 8 and 9 men in the box that  made it kinda tough for him...  :P

Unless the Jets did some pwning I didn't hear about, it's his own team, the Packers.

Yeah, it's the Packers. Just like the only teams Brady and Manning haven't beaten are their own teams as well.

That's actually one of the big downsides, in my opinion. The Vikings were one half-way decent QB* away from winning it all, because AP really is that good. All they needed was some schlub who could hand off and complete 50% of his passes to a wide open receiver standing 15 yards down field to keep defenses from playing 8-9 guys in the box every down. Now, however, if the Vikings win it's going to be all about Favre all the time and AP will get relegated to the shadows.

Don't believe me? Quick, name the QB and the RB for Denver in their two superbowl winning seasons. Who is easier to recall, Terrell Davis or John Elway? It's funny considering that Davis was the dominant RB in the league while Elway was--at best--a middle-of-the-pack QB at the time.

Elway finally won because of Davis.

Do you think Favre will make it out of Green Bay alive if he beats them at home?  Anyone check Vince's gravesite yet?

Favre is ruining his image the longer he does this. I have never seen someone retire twice and then take it back and decide to play. I wish him luck in Minnesota and he still deserves respect but the amount of respect he deserves is dropping rapidly the more he keeps this up. This is similar to when Michael Jordan and Mario Lemieux tried to come out of retirement and just embarrassed themselves. I can't wait for the Steelers matchup where number one defense shows Favre why he should have retired!! Can't wait for this season! Do I see a repeat coming?

I don't like the idea of players retiring and coming back out of retirement.  However, I do like the fact that the Vikings get a chance to be very competitive this year.  I am a huge NFL fan and I enjoy seeing teams who have not have not gone far in the playoffs in recent years have a chance to do so.  I am an Adrian Peterson fan, so it will be cool to see how he does with less pressure on him.

Maybe you should start rooting for the bills then, at this rate they'll never make it to the play offs. ( Stupid T.O.)

Let me clarify that statement.  I don't necessarily root for a team just because they haven't won, as I have two teams, the Redskins and Ravens, and I am a diehard Redskins fan.  It is just nice to see a change in scenery.

I foresee a very awkward moment if the Vikings win the Super Bowl.  Would Favre be allowed to hold the Lombardi trophy?  If he did, would a huge giant boulder roll down and crush the stadium?

That's because Elway had been around forever...Davis (which I would have known btw) had an injury-shortened career, and ergo has not been as memorable.
