I totally saw this thread and thought it was about the book, Grapes of Wrath, which I hated. Total fail on my part.

I thought it was going to be about the book also, which happens to be on my summer reading list. Is it really that bad of a book?

I guess it depends on what kinds of books you enjoy. I did not enjoy it because the theology is really screwy and it just goes on and on and on and then the ending is just weird.

To be honest, I hate reading since I'm a math/science type of person. The only books I enjoyed reading this past school year was Les Miserables and Animal Farm, along with all of the poetry (I'm a poerty fanatic, not a novel person).

Looks like Grapes of Wrath might be the book I save for last this summer...  :P

The Grapes of Wrath is an absolutely wonderful book. There may be some parts that get close to the line of offensive for some, and it will often seem slow at times (especially with chapters alternating from story to reality). However, it is a necessary read.

It is much different than Steinbeck's other work, though. Keep that in mind.

Oh noes! Contradiction! If it's at all a slow read, odds are I'm not going to enjoy reading it.

To stay (somewhat) on topic, most I've ever seen from a box is two. Most I've seen has had zero, but two or three Mayhems.

I couldn't stand Animal Farm.... although that was probably due to the fact I had to read when I barely knew how to write my name.... :P

To stay semi on topic: Most I've seen pulled from a box was 3?. I've got one passed to me in booster before :D.

how you only get 2 foils

Box = 24 Packs
2 foils come in each pack, so 48 foils come in a box.

Although there are some error packs with 4 foils, so you could have 96 foils per box if you get all error packs....

Lawfuldog, you enjoy poetry??? Perhaps we should compare tastes sometime. I LOVE poetry, although I probably write more than I read. But I do find it funny how excited I got when my brother bought me an 800+ page book of poetry for Christmas. :)

Sorry to interrupt. Carry on.

If you're having trouble with the book, the Grapes of Wrath movie is great.  Henry Fonda starred, it was directed by the great John Ford (he made every western worth watching), and the camera work was done by the guy that did Citizen Kane.  Pretty close the book, too, although the ending was slightly re-ordered to make things not quite as grim.  I mean, it was banned in Russia, so you know it has to be good.

Wait, wanna PM me the movie ending? The book's ending was way too positive for Steinbeck to begin with...

Anything I've read in English class = FAIL
That said, I've read hundreds of books outside of English class and loved them.  Reading's a great hobby.
The only Steinbeck I've read was in English class, though I stole the book and read it before it was all messed up by class discussion and interpretation.

Been there, done that, still didn't like it. So there you go. :)

Haha yes, I enjoy poetry. I found it funny how over the last quarter of this past school year that instead of studying for Finals, I read that very thick "Top 500 Poems" book from cover to cover.  :P

I love how one can get in trouble for reading in English class.
