Statistically speaking, roughly 2% of the world's population has a birthday within a few days of Nats, assuming a few is 2-3.

I assume then that would hold roughly true for Redemption players, and if 100 people show up to Nationals, there is a good chance that at least two of them will have a birthday between August 6 and August 14.

Thanks everyone (especially liked the picture in the OP)!  Yesterday was a great birthday.  It was pretty low-key actually since we've had such a crazy summer overall, I just wanted to have some normalcy.  My oldest daughter bought me a special breakfast of Dunkin Sticks, and my wife made me a special cherry pie.  We played Shadows Over Camelot with the whole family, and then after the kids went to bed my wife and I played Stratego Duel with my new set.  It was a great day!

Meanwhile my big present is my trip to Nats, so that is yet to come!

What is Stratego Duel?  How similar/different is from Stratego?

It's a faster game basically as each player only has 10 pieces.  For the numbers below, the order has been switched from the old-school Stratego games so that bigger numbers are better.

*** Your spotter has the ability to "spot" a piece that is directly in front of it.  You guess what that piece is, and if you are right, then it is removed from the game.  If you are wrong nothing happens other than your opponent now knowing where your spotter is

That sounds fun. In your opinion, which is better Stratego or Stratego Duel?

I actually like both and usually pick more based on how much time I have to play.  Often the middle numbers in regular Stratego don't serve much purpose, so they aren't missed in Stratego Duel, which focuses on those main decisions that you have to make in the game.

However, it is possible to come back from an early disadvantage in regular Stratego, but in Duel the game is over a lot faster.

Really my favorite version is Electronic Stratego, where the computer announces which piece dies.  That way you don't really know what the other piece is other than that is stronger than the one that died.  This preserves the element of surprise longer, and that really makes the game even more fun.
